6mm /.243 hunting success on Big Game

What I was told was that they did a run of the 107 TMK in 6mm. But that they didn’t sell. One tech said they were never marketed and the sales guy said “at the time we had more economically viable projects”. So I got the impression they were never introduced to market, but were an R&D project...

6mm /.243 hunting success on Big Game

Ok, here is the latest update. Here’s the skinny: they’ve made a 107 TMK before, and they have the tooling still onsite to make it. But at the time their marketing team wasn’t in tune with that specific trend, and they made the non-tipped version at the same time, pushed that one a bit more...

KRG Echo - Sporterish version of bravo for tikkas

It’s the 24” version chopped to 23” to get rid of the threaded portion. Balance is forward but not overly so. I’d say perfect for a rifle that will be used solely from a rest. The mag retention spring is captured/held by the screw that holds the trigger to the bottom of the action. Here you...

KRG Echo - Sporterish version of bravo for tikkas

I originally got the Echo specifically for a CTR bc I’ve had more than a few issues with the mags. Couldn’t wait to get a better stock & get factory mags. As mentioned you do need the mag retention spring. Nothing wrong with a 10lb rifle in the mountains! I switched from Bravo to Echo and...

KRG Echo - Sporterish version of bravo for tikkas

I’ve used both, have more experience with the Bravo. Yes the Bravo forend is stiffer bc of the full length aluminum. I’d say 100% the Echo is better. But that’s me, each person has to determine their use case. I like that the Echo only adds weight to the center, I like that the forend shape is...

KRG Echo - Sporterish version of bravo for tikkas

Honestly, they both flex badly (Field Stock and Echo). There’s ample space around a smaller contour barrel as mentioned. But I don’t use bipods so torquing the forend isn’t such a big deal to me. I’ve had bipods throw shots enough over the last three years to make me finally ditch them, even...

KRG Echo - Sporterish version of bravo for tikkas

Earlier I meant to say “unless I’m holding both side-by-side I wouldn’t notice that one was almost a pound heavier due to the balance”. Measured from point of middle finger to trigger shoe, got 1-5/8” to 1-3/4” with both stocks. But if you look at the pics, the KRG has a much wider grip...

KRG Echo - Sporterish version of bravo for tikkas

I have the KRG Echo, Rokstok, and the MDT Field Stock. Rokstok & Echo are the best, I’m still torn over which I prefer. MDT gets last place. Rokstok (plain Jane with swivel studs) weighs almost exactly what the factory plastic stock weighs. Echo adds roughly 13oz, (weighs 2lbs 10oz), but does...

They were great when I called them. Gave me a shipping label, apologized, no biggie. Still reeling from being so close yet so far. Wish they were real lol.

Well my order from Sierra showed up. All 3,000 of them. Just one problem though; none of them were tipped. This ought to be fun to ship back.

It’s not counter to the narrative. He’s pulling spark plugs on a 4-cylinder. Needs to use the 95 Nosler BT or the 95 Ballistic Silvertips in that 243.

Holy heck thanks @amassi Definitely everyone email bomb them. Any time I’ve mentioned something that requires more than 1:8” twist I haven’t gotten a warm reception. Who knows? If they get tons of emails maybe they’ll see the light. But I will say they get tons of requests and they’re all...

I know of the David Tubb & Sierra 115 DTAC but thought that had no tip. Was it a one-off?

Call the tech phone number, not the sales department. That’s who hooked me up. He took down the order but didn’t do any paperwork, said it helps them gauge the demand. Well, yes and no. I’m gonna keep pushing. There’s one employee who’s on board, said they’re going to have a conversation about...

6mm /.243 hunting success on Big Game

I was told they were doing a run in December. After chatting for a bit (I’m trying to get them to do a 107 TMK), he said people can place orders prior to runs so I did. Weirdly, I got a call today for payment and they’re shipping now. Was told “I guess the timeline moved up”. Doesn’t make...

6mm /.243 hunting success on Big Game

Place an order with them over the phone. Then once they do a run they’ll reach out to you for payment. That way you don’t miss out. Helps them gauge how much to make…as long as people don’t abuse it and duck out once they get the call.

1800-1850fps for either the ELDM or ELD-X. And again, the difference is really splitting hairs. Personally (bc I have both on hand) I would just look up book max for both bullets using whatever powder I have on hand or have researched, then go shoot 5 shots in half grain increments working up...

6mm /.243 hunting success on Big Game

DISCLAIMER: This is a summary of everything I’ve read on this forum and heard on the Shoot2Hunt podcast. I haven’t personally shot 50 animals with both the ELDM & ELD-X and compared the data, but it has been done and this is what I gather. If in error, feel free to lambast me. I can take it like...

    6cm vs 6arc

“A shorter barrel would be preferred as I plan to be putting a suppressor on it, I know length affects velocity which affects bullet performance but not sure how to determine how short I can go with each of these calibers” This is the main reason to lean towards the 6CM over the ARC. If you...
