I've had a SBE and now own a SBE3. I've had a couple minor cycling issues with underpowered range loads, but never in the field. One of the best field shotguns I've ever owned. I also have a Xtrema 2 and SX3.
Looking for a load to be used on elk or grizzly from my 300WM Ridgeline. Searching I see a lot of success in this rifle platform using the Berger 215, but I'm not sure that's the best bullet for a grizzly...then again I'm anticipating 200yds or less and a good broadside shot perhaps it doesn't...
I'll be using a Christensen Ridgeline in 7mm Rem Mag shooting 160gr accubonds. Topped with a Z5 5-25. 1/2 MOA, light and comfortable to carry. Under $4k. Personally I don't see a lot of value in trying to drop a pound or more on the rifle setup. Lots of easier and cheaper ways to save total...
I recently had one of these put together, but we removed the detachable magazine and installed the flush mount floor plate design magazine. The only downside to this is that the new magazine needs to be loaded from the bottom by opening up the floorplate and stuffing two rounds in. I was ok...
Ran the Booneville 100 this weekend. To be honest, the terrain isn't my jam as I like the western mountain trail races much better. Small race and generally flat, but what it lacked in vert it made up for in unforgiving limestone roads. It also got very hot Saturday afternoon. I had a great...
We must be neighbors! I transitioned from a half to a 50, but followed a prescriptive training plan. I did run a marathon, but as a training run as I worked up to the 50 mile race. You will find a lot of 50 mile training plans online, look through and pick the one that best fits your schedule...
Check out Robert Lustig's work. In summary, "zero" sugar energy drinks are just as bad, if not worse than a good old fashioned Coke. The brain doesn't know the difference between real and fake sugar, so the insulin response is the same. And I'm guilty as charged, I enjoy a Celsius occasionally.
Nice summary. In general I agree with the adaptations taking less time (10 hours) than we think. For example, my transition from "flatter" ultras to mountain ultras is generally an 8 week window. That assumes there is sufficient base strength to build off. Also, it's not hard to find a...
I wouldn't taper much at all. I do a very specific 12-day taper for hundos and it has worked well for me. And that's for an event that pretty much destroys your body. I can't imagine a sheep hunt is going to come close to comparing to that physical toll, and you will have recovery time built...
PRP or adipose/marrow stem cell treatments likely won't help you this year, as you're looking at least 8 weeks of no activity while it (hopefully) rebuilds. You'll need imaging to confirm the tear is small enough that an Ortho who does PRP thinks it will even heal. I've had all of the above on...
