No personal experience in the unit, but just go and have a good trip. You’ll learn a lot from the trip, and figure out how you want to tackle the next one. My biggest tip would be to be mentally prepared. 2 miles doesn’t seem like much in the east, but out there 2 miles can seem like 5.
Definitely keeping my eye on them to see if any plans need to change. Fingers crossed nothing changes, but that’s the whole reason for having plan A-Z.
The CPW has an app that you can download that shows all of the streams/lakes in CO and what species of trout are in them. It has helped me plan for streams for my Dad to fish while I’m elk hunting in September.
I got the Hyke and Byke 15 degree down bag when it was on sale. I’m pretty happy with it from first impressions, but haven’t been able to test it in cold temperatures yet.
Try changing up your questions to certain questions about access, weather, etc. These general “where should I hunt” type of questions do not get answers. Everyone knows as soon as they post a public land spot on here it’s toast. You might get a PM from someone with more information, but just...
I’m definitely no expert by any means, but it depends a lot on how you want to hunt for the type of gear you need. Truck camping or leaving from a base camp every day would take less dialed in gear than backpack hunting. Either way though, you’ll need a good pack. I plan on hunting thicker...
I ended up going with a Kuiu pack and frame for around $275. A pair of Danner boots on sale for $90, along with a pair of Meindls I had gifted to me. Mountainsmith Shelter for $75 dollars on here. The shelter doesn’t have a floor, but I think it will be a good floorless option for September in CO.
The big difference between 100 and 125 grain broadheads is the FOC of the arrow and total arrow weight. A lot of questions would need to be answered before being able to say whether you would be better off with 125s or 100s.Draw length, arrow length, etc. Personally I believe it’s better to be...
Slowly but surely getting there. Been working out for a little over a month, but just started the exo 4 week plan. I just plan on doing it twice with increased weights. Down to only needing a water bladder and sleeping pad gear wise. Wife is mad at me since I am more organized with this than...
