I have a MR Pop-up 28 (gen 1) and a MR Marshall Guide Lite LT.
Fr your used I would lean towards the Pinter/Sawtooth. The Pop Up is a great day pack, but at loads in the 70-80lbs range feel like they are maxing out the suspension and frame. I did use the PU to pack out a full wolf and also a...
Where abouts in BC are you? PM if you want.
Yes get some good boots, Meindl at the bottom end or something stiffer.
Your gear list is pretty solid - much better than what I started out with. A spotting scope and tripod would be a great addition for a sheep/goat hunt.
I have a klymit insulated pad and a 0F EE quilt. For me it's only good to just below freezing (say -5 C) if I wear clothes including my puffy. The straps help with drafts, as does being contained inside a Bora bivi. I use this set up in the mountains of BC until mid-September, after that I'm...
I believe the only outfits (packers) in BC are in the Fort Nelson/Muncho Lake area (checkout Steamboat outfitters and AA Outfitters). There is a place out of Mcbride (Blue Creek Outfitters) that rents horses and will also train yo how to pack them......chit - I just googled their website and...
Hi Evan - for our trip the boat was key. Otherwise we would have been able to get to where the caribou died on the island. I'd say its worth it to take one. It could save a lot of walking and packing of meat. The intex seahawk 2 is about 18lbs and if you watch amazon can be had for about...
I’m not sure what I would build for a Dream Sheep Rifle, as I already have this one:
Rem 600 action - ceracoated
20” custom barrel by Canadian maker Ron Smith
Chambered in 7-08 Ackley
Wildcat fibreglass stock
Talley rings
3-12 LRTSi
7lb 4oz (unloaded)

I agree/echo what the other guys have said
- the type of rocks, gravel, dirt & vegetation along with the steepness of the slope all account for wether I feel it’s passable or not.
A thin layer of lose gravel over sheer bed rock on steep slope above a cliff face...is a bad combination...
If going floorless use big stakes and rock them up well. We were using 8" Y stakes and they didn't hold on their own. The BD mega lite doesn't have any centenary cut or mid-panel tie-outs - both of which should help.
NF SHV 3-10x42 (after shooting out to 660 with the CDS and discovered it didn't RTZ)
Lite Outdoors Ti Stove - awesome!
Fenix hl60r - way brighter and easier controls than the Black Diamond, also heavier
Kuiu Kenai toque - really really warm, although compared to other toques (that are less...
Badlands Clutch for sale. Only worn for a few day hunts. It's in great shape. While I have not packed meat in this bag it did get a stain on one strap where it touched a moose quarter. $200 shipped CONUS.
I bought a "new unfired" Savage Axis youth off the classified for $270 CAD. I topped it with a 3-9x40 Burris E1 that I got on sale for $200. And its held on with Talley lightwieghts. So $540 Canadian for the whole set up. I did have to tune up the trigger and got it down to 3lbs. This rifle...
I like the borah bivy. If you slide down in the night and your feet are shoved up against the tipi wall for a long time and there is condensation it will soak thru. If you only brush up against the wall occasionally then it sheds the moisture. I don't pack a ground sheet and just use the...
