    You don't need to be able to weld to make a form 1. I've built 5 without welding anything. I do have a lathe and mill though.

    That isn't the case anymore. They changed that a couple years back if I remember correctly. This is straight out of this years regs under the you MAY NOT section. So it looks like they could legally take the guys gun and gear off the hill. Whether they did or didn't is another question...

    Most bullets are 1800fps minimum. On their site they have a picture of one at 1750fps that opened a bit.

    Yep, thats how I did it in SE Alaska during the alpine season. The one tip I'd give you is get a bunch of easily identifiable landmarks before leaving your glassing spot. It will look a lot different not that far in. Here is one I took in the alpine a few years back
