I drew 36A late season rifle. Brother drew 33 muzzleloader. I've hunted 36A archery the last two years but if anyone has some insight on 33...relating to muzzleloader season I'd be grateful. Also, muzzloader regs are a bit vague. It looks like optics are allowed?

Strapped my big green Coleman on the hitch hauler on the back of the jeep and drove from CA to ID on an elk hunt two years ago. Space was tight in the jeep so I threw my pack, boots, clothes inside the Coleman and strapped it down....drove through 2 hours of rain and arrived to open a cooler...
I decided to go with the Leupold FX-II 6x36....bought her an Ultralamina 32 bag on sale with the money I saved over springing for the VX-3.
I have been eyeing that Meopta scope for some time but haven't heard much either way....it's also another 6 ounces.
I'd say 250 yards is a reasonable expectation. Until I get her on a live animal I'm going to stay on the conservative side. It's very likely the rifle will be used for other species. My bush plane owning uncle just purchased a spread (including strip) in Homer, AK.
I'd say the budget is...
I bought my wife (newlywed) a rifle for her wedding gift. I'm not much of a gun guy but I need to outfit her with a decent scope.
I'd like to keep the scope simple, durable and light. Initially I liked the idea of a fixed power (either 4 or 6) but pickins are slim and I've read mixed reviews...
Not to single you out Kevin but you are clearly viewing this situation from scenarios in which you can relate...which is entirely natural. That being said...
Hwange is not Yellowstone. Zimbabwe is not the U.S.
If the basis of your post lies with the "legality" of the hunt then it is flawed...
Documentation and laws are things that exist in civilized societies. While I was there there were essentially two factions of the government that were feuding and tensions were high. Mugabe had control of the military while his opposition in the cabinet had control of the police. There were...
I have hunted in Hwange National Park for elephant and buffalo. They were population control hunts and I can assure you that even as we were escorted by "official park rangers" I can entirely understand how the situation could have spiraled beyond the control of the hunter. I was quite...
I know this is kind of silly but that podcast with Marlon Holden has really been bothering me. I've had this internal dialogue/introspective struggle over the last few days.
I've come to a point in my life where I most identify myself as a "mountain hunter" much more so than any of my other...
I just got through the Jay Scott episode with Marlon Holden....I don't even know what to say. Hands down the most arrogant ass hat I've ever heard. 100% the wrong kind of person to be representing our industry. Wow.
I know many on here are enamored with the Vortex Razor 50mm spotter....how does it compare with the binos in the Razor line?
I only ask because I've owned the little spotter and while I was impressed by the compactness and to some degree the glass. I decided to sell it after I got ahold of my...
I haven't compared the two side x side but I have owned the EL 12 x 50 for several months and they are simply incredible. I have let several other glance through them and it always results in a "holy sh*t".
I am forever sold on top tier glass. When I bought them I was making $15/hour and...
I've always called bs on guys saying that their pack was so comfortable that they "couldn't even tell I was carrying 60 lbs"...well, I took my new 3500 out tonight and my legs sure can tell I was carrying a pack but man....this thing is a joy. Granted, it's my first "real" pack, I've used North...
If that is him, (I assume it is) he was outstanding. I was also about to suggest Wilderness Archery....for this guy alone. If he's at Sportsmans now then I'd go there.
