I’m an east coast PA guy and have had many black bear encounters. Every one of them the BB ran away like a scalded dog. Cant imagine a brown bear. Bears as a whole are beautiful animals and I would love to put eyes on a grizzly before I’m too old to get out there. Maybe I’ll go to a zoo! Lol!
Thanks guys. I’ll think on it some more, the arrow capture on the QAD in the up pos is a plus for me and given the mechanism of the Hamskea I had wondered about. Just having some gear buying itch because I’ll be building up a new bow. I picked up an as new condition Phase 4 33” for a good...
I’ve been shooting QAD rests forever and a day and I like them. I think they could do a little better in the durability arena but I’ve have only minor problems over the years. My Traverse wears a QAD Integrate and performs very well but….
I’ve been wanting to try out a Hamskea and the Epsilon...
Lots of good advice here. 340 spine might work but as you step up in poundage you become underspined.
I would also add, good, razor sharp, cut on contact broadheads.
I carry those long sleeves plastic ones now and nitrile gloves. It keeps me clean. But I will do the job, gloves or not. Never bothered me except for trying to keep things clean.
I finally got my K4 5k pack set up. Took a little to get the fitting just right. Im 6’4” and finally settled on the second to lowest adjustment holes and then a slight micro adjustment down and I have a very comfortable fit with the shoulder harness lightly resting. One thing that I found is...
I just ordered the K4 5000. These packs look really good. Gonna try it out as soon as I get it on some backpacking hiking/ trout fishing trips here in PA.
Anyone have any word on how fast they are getting them out the door?
Like new l, barely shot and never hunted.

Big Jim quiver included.
My name is written in Sharpie on the bow by the manufacturer but can be removed with some mineral spirits.

Last week I sold my Halon 6. It was a great bow and it shot very nice. However I needed a better string angle at full draw (31”). And my Traverse is the most comfortable bow I’ve ever owned but now I’m wishing I had another bow again. Not because the Traverse is lacking but because I usually...
Get back at it and take away a lesson.
there’s no archer in the world who hasn’t made a bad shot or missed. Your not special. We mess up. There are variables we cannot control and being a military aviator, I can tell you that we screw up even the best situations where we control much of the...
My very first bow was a green fiberglass recurve kids bow with a red plastic handle. I got it whne I was about five years old. Shot those wooden arrows with the plastics vanes and crimped on tin points.
I got a bigger one after that.
then a Bear Whitetail
Bear Whitetail II
a PSE base model...
Well I’m not gonna tell her no. She does fine without me for months and months while I’m deployed. And she usually tags along to our place when I go archery for deer. I’m sure she will be fine. So will I.
So my wife says she’s coming along. We usually do a vacation to somewhere in the Caribbean but haven’t because COVID. So she says she’s tagging along with me and plans to camp and hike and enjoy the relaxing while I’m off “playing in the woods”.
I have to say I’m excited. I took her deer...
I am not a fan of the super steels. They perform well and I won’t argue that but I find them to take more time to sharpen and more difficult to maintain. Verses a high carbon tool steel that hones easily and stays wicked sharp with a few swipes on a strop as you go.
of the steels you listed...
Thanks all. The truck camping really opens up a lot of options I hadn’t thought about.
More and better food options for one. Better sleep options too. A cot or an air bed. Real pillows and maybe real blankets etc. Storage obviously. I could bring a folding camp chair to lounge in the evening...
You should have a good selection of bows on the used market if you watch the classifieds on AT. There are a lot of gear hounds that buy and sell the flagships bows every year or two and you can get a great deal on one. In fact, I scored a mint Halon 6 that way a few years ago. While I keep it...
Are the forest roads that abundant that one can drive easily into areas? I’ve been to the Allegheny National Forest here in PA a few times and never really paid much attention to that aspect.
Well I committed to eight days of hunting and two days driving on each end. That’s the best I can do with work and family and of course whitetails! Lol!
the truck camping sounds appealing but still trying to picture just pulling off a trail and setting up there?
