I frequently use this site as well for recipes and ideas. Stumbled across it from Hill People gear website. Tons of ideas there.

Above 11,800 last week all we found was moose tracks. I was surprised that the elk had dropped after the snow beginning of last week. This was in Co. Live and learn I guess. Wasted a lot of time and energy going up from camp, instead of going down.

There was a thread about a month or 2 ago that was pretty long on these rifles. Check it out. I have one in 300 win, and have been pleased. Not much aftermarket support if you like to play around though.

About 6 liters when hunting hard, plus water for meals. Thats for a dry climate, trying to stay properly hydrated.

Like Joe dirt said. I like ovaeasy. Work in baking, pancakes and for scrambling, but I pack around a fry bake pan to spike camp. They are reasonable enough that I haven't messed with dehydrated eggs, though I hear it can be done.

Similar to Mississippi pot roast, I do a pack of Italian dressing mix, 1 cup stock, 2 cloves crushed garlic, and 2 jars peppercinni w/juices in crock pot until it falls apart. Like about a 3 lb roast. Can do 1 jar of peppers, but we run out before the meat does in that situation.

I don't mind it. Just have to dial the inflation. I usually grab my nemo tensor field. Don't make it anymore, but I like the thickness. Klymit is pretty solid for the money in my opinion though. My .02

I like a inflatable with a r value of 4.5 or so, on top of a closed cell thermarest, with a r value of 2 or so. Gives me some insurance, flexibility, and doesn't break the bank. You can get a insulated klymit for about 80 dollars, closed cell for 40 or 50. YMMV

Great belt. Like others have said, the stretch is awesome and it stays put. I just don't like the buckle and tab on the end under my pack belt. More of a daily belt for me. Had it 6 months and it performs as new yet with the stretch.

It is easy to do with elk burger jerky. Don't dry it as hard. When checking it, keep in mind it will get harder when it cools.

Like others have said. Light on the throttle, light to the brake. Stay loose. Give yourself space and time to react. 4wd will help keep your front-end going in the right direction. You can go like mad in 4wd, but it does nothing for stopping you. Use it, but don't get a false sense of security...
If you have opportunity, check out the lock and fitment on everything between a Lyman and a traditions. I feel Lyman has a better lock. Not sure if they fixed it, but it, but in the past, traditions had problems with their locks breaking, basically making them more expensive to repair than...
