Can't find a solid answer and plan on calling AZDFG but can you camp and sleep on State Trust Land? Have an OTC tag and was thinking I can just park the truck and sleep in a tent overnight.

Yes you can if you have either a state land permit or are hunting and have a valid hunting license. I’ll add, don’t try to go mountain biking or atv’ing and try to use a hunting license. You need to be hunting. Per the AZGFD regs: as a licensed hunter lawfully taking wildlife you are considered a state land permitee

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I have my hunting license so I should be fine then. Still going to call and make sure.

You can technically have others help you as long as they have a hunting license and bring a weapon like 22 etc with them so that they are also legally “hunting rabbits, coyotes”. Or they need a state land permit, technically.

Being from AZ though, most residents don’t know any better and treat it like any public land(it technically is not public land) even though they have done better over the last decade of posting it with signage. People still use all the roads as if it’s national forest or blm, not saying that’s right, but that is what happens on the ground. Good luck!

No, your hunting license is permission if you are lawfully taking game.

If you are there to hike and camp, then, yes, you need the permit.

I was told when I called a few years back that the license allowed permission to hunt, but not to camp. Is that incorrect?

As he asked about camping that is why I referred to it.

If you are legally hunting and have a hunting license you can do anything the state land permit permits you to do. There isn't anything in the regs that says you are restricted to just hunting.
