I hunted region 7 near Broadus in 2018, 2019 and 2020. In 2018 and 2019 the mule deer were fat and healthy in November. In sudden contrast during November 2020 they were terribly skinny. The does I saw had zero fat going into winter and the forage looked depleted.
At least in the areas I...
I am leaving western Oregon for Montana Wednesday AM hunting solo with both a deer and elk tag. Spend one night sleeping under the stars and get to my Montana camp spot Thursday afternoon. I have the entire season, both archery and rifle, so I can hunt until late November if it takes that...
I have a six foot Reliable (brand name) insulated fishbag. Easily holds elk hind quarters. By placing the drain plug near my PU tailgate I can drain excess water. By adding ice and salt I can maintain the temperature in low thirties. Folds up for easy storage and transport.
I have had them for a couple years. I am very happy with them overall.
The only issue I have had is I twice broke off the forehead rest which was replaced free on warranty. I may be a little rough on them.
I have shot and eaten 100+ big game animals shot with lead. I use bullets that do not grenade, usually hit the animal in the neck, head or ribs, and trim well. I have found zero lead in the meat. I have no concern over effects on human health and will continue to use lead.
I have an in reach and spot. I always use the spot as it has been 100% reliable and is simple. I can do everything I need with it. Two OK messages means I got an animal down.
The In Reach was complicated and the screen was to small.
In the Portland news I heard it described as the "Homeless industrial complex".
The industry is the government funded non profits that portray they are addressing the problem when in fact they feed the problem and enable ever increasing numbers of people to be homeless as a life choice. The...
Stopped drinking New Years day. Did it mainly because of problematic blood pressure and difficulty getting BP meds tuned in combination with alcohol.
Couple days after stopping, BP shot up but then dropped and stabilized at lower levels. This is consistent with research on the subject. I...
I applied as a party with a friend for the big game combo. He had one point and I had two. He talked with MFWP this AM and was told the party dissovled for the released tags so I was successful, and he was unsuccessful.
AI seems dangerous to me.
It will be immensely more powerful than any human mind, it will have the ability to evolve over a compressed time frame, and will be self aware. It will be like life itself except superior. It will inevitably dominate its environment.
Oregon coast.
Pros- great fishing in the ocean for salmon, bottomfish, halibut, dungeness crab and tuna. Lots of public land and OK hunting for deer, elk and upland gamebirds. Good climate.
Cons- Liberal politics, entitled people who want to socialize everything. Oregon (Portland) is a...
That is an excellent description of what I do with my Montefeltro. I never have the "click" problem if I am even remotely paying attention. I really like my Montefetro for a wide variety of upland hunting.
Another vote for a Burris Fullfield 2.
I have had one in 3 x 9 power on a Tikka 270 WSM for the last 12 years or so. No problems. Quality at a budget price.
