Strange sounds in Crazy Mountains, Montana

Squatch-akabra: half squatch, half chupakabra. The offspring can't reproduce, but they can make a racket at night... only at night. That part of the crazies gets hammered, you see many grouse?

Too redneck or is there a better way?

"If there is any doubt, there is no doubt" - from the movie Ronin. Then your comment about wanting it to look good 20 years down the road. Do it how YOU like it and I think you answered your question. Every 'money saving' mounts I've done are almost instantly regretted. Not sure what else...

    Bad Unsolicited Advice

I'm glad it's not just me I suppose. Asked one guy, "Do I have a sign on my forehead that says 'Please Tell Me Your Opinion on what I Should be Doing'"? I think some people are genuinely tying to help, others want to be The Expert. Very annoying.

    Montana Prairie Dog

If you don't mind driving North and West of Billings you can find prairie dogs and large prairie dog towns on public land. Haven't been out that direction in 15+ years and they may be overrun w/shooters. There are also towns around Big Timber but AFAIK all on private land. Maybe contact an...

What's something you wish you would have learned sooner in life

Not sure where I read it or heard it, but; "You are the average of the five people you spend most time with" Made me stop and seriously consider who I was spending time with, what conversations I was having and how the trajectories of my 'friends' lives were going and what was important to...

Silly things you heard as a kid

My first construction boss asking me to move a roof truss to the left a bit: "Move it to the left a skosh" I was nervous and asked "How long is a skosh?" "TWICE HALF A SKOSH, JUST MOVE THE DAMN THING!!!" Pipeline boss after grinding welds on flanges and connecting one pipe to the other "Make...

What non-hunting podcasts do you listen to?

8 - 10 hours a day! Soooo jealous. My short commute robs me of podcast time but wouldn't trade..... The Rest is History - not a surprise given the name, but a good histroy-based podcast. Entertaining hosts. Acquired - In depth assessments of big companies, their history, who runs them and...

    One pack

Similar situation, I only use one pack for everything. 90% of my use are day trips and I like room for puffy jackets and pants plus small stove for coffee in the bag for winter day trips. I have an MR Selway, 3800 cu in for a large-ish day pack and it's way easy to strap a tent, sleeping bag...

    Casper/Natrona County

I've never lived in Wyoming but have an employee in Casper and work regularly in Sheridan. A few acquaintances have moved from Bozeman and Billings to Sheridan and absolutely love it and wish they would have left Montana sooner (sorry Sheridan rocksliders...). Housing prices there are getting...

    DIY Packraft Materials

As Htm84 wrote, Seattle Fabrics has TPU fabric. I've also done Alibaba (felt like I just confessed a sin...) to get some TPU fabric that I didn't need quickly. The minimums weren't too bad from some vendors.

Saturn Kaboat/bear mountain outfitters/chugiak mountain review

Moscowmoose, I really don't know how it works in those circumstances. I do plan on doing some relatively calm river floats and building up. Hope you get some answers from people with more relevant experience.
