I think my left hand has been my rear bag in the field more often than not. I'm not opposed to carrying something extra I think will increase my effectiveness, but it just isn't hard to shoot decent without a rear bag in my experience. And I've got like 8 bags I've purchased and a couple I've...
I had only thought about it in terms of the extreme spread, but that's a great point. Since the natural distribution is to have the majority of the shots closer to center, hit rate would go down even more than if the rifle was zero'd but less accurate. I guess playing with all those Monte...
For some reason I feel like people don't believe me when I harp on a perfect zero, and tell them being .1 mil off is equivalent to making their system .7 moa worse shooting. If it was a 1.5 MOA system, it might as well be a 2.2 MOA system now, at least for the initial shot which is what matters...
My Tikka 22 BR is maybe 80% from a factory mag, which is a no-go for me. Been using a MDT BR mag that’s more like 97%, which is getting to the realm I can live with. Have head of success with some of the factory style aftermarket mags, but I’m reluctant to spend the funds to play “let’s find...
Depends on how small of targets you’re engaging & how far away.
For myself, on game at the max ranges I’m comfortable with, using DA vs figuring all three components individually is a rounding error. I’d be completely comfortable using a known elevation (and standard pressure at that...
Just a data point for you, I've punched at minimum 30k CCI 400's in the last decade, with lots of hot 6.5x47 and Dasher loads in there. I've found no primer issues if I wasn't having very obvious pressure signs anyways. Caveats: those were only a few manufacturing batches due to buying in...
If you didn't get a hold of them, it probably wasn't just you.
I have not found 6mm any more or less available than 6.5mm, on average, over the last few years. The most popular Berger sku's have been consistently hard to come by, the rest come and go, Hornady seems to be in stock as well as...
Integral every time if possible, especially if zero retention is a primary concern. If I don't have that option I want to epoxy a full length rail on, and I still don't trust it QUITE the same.
I totally get it, as I couldn't find much myself a few weeks ago. Have thought about doing a proper review once I have enough time with them, for everyone in similar shoes. My use case may be different than yours. My primary binos are 12x Meoptas (by way of Cabelas) and I have a Maven RF and...
I recently received a set I haven't fully wrung out. I will say they have my favorite glass compared with the 3k's or 10k's, no significant tint and pleasantly surprised at the view.
The laser isn't weak.
Don't want to weigh in on too much else till I have a lot more time with them.
It will not make 380,000 PF, but they changed the rules for factory class - no power factor:
As a guy who's hunted primarily with a 6mm since 2018, this rule change increased my interest. My setup is gaming the rule set, but funny enough it means I might actually take it hunting too...
Looking good Brad. I just got a Havak PH2 in 6 Creed to play NRL Hunter and here's hoping mine will group similarly. The element certainly has it's appeal for a backpack hunting setup...
Is that a baby arca rail just in front of the lug in the top image?
Every one that isn't integral, and I'd prefer integral. I usually use Devcon or JB Weld, with both surfaces cleaned with rubbing alcohol (can be hard on some finishes). They're easy to take apart with heat, just sit a clothes iron on the rail.
I'm an idiot and didn't read closely enough. Didn't realize it was graphing the running average, I incorrectly assumed it was plotting individual shot velocities. It all adds up now.
