Does anyone on here have experience with Nightforce MOA-XT reticle? Especially how they like it compared to the moar reticle. I really prefer the floating center dot on the moa-xt, but like the simplicity of the moar reticle. I doubt I’ll ever shoot with holdovers, but they also wouldn’t bother...
I’m not a metal expert so I can’t argue the point. All I know is if I size a case using a neck bushing 2 thousands under diameter and size a case using a bushing 8 thousands under diameter and then try and pull the bullets with an impact hammer, the bullets seated in the brass sized with the...
You can get a little more internal magazine length with some after market mags. Aluminum bottom metal is more durable in theory and also looks and feels better. Beyond that I think the only two upgraded a tikka really needs is a carbon or fiberglass stock and a lighter trigger spring. Having a...
I’m not following, what do you mean by you are already at max clamping force? If you use a smaller bushing and smaller expander mandrel before seating the bullet, it should impart more clamping force on the bullet.
The crimp is a good idea tho, glad it’s working. I’ve seen guys blow match...
I think it’s all high quality stuff. You just have to know how each brand fits. I feel like kuiu offers the best fitting cut for me and probably the best value too. Especially when you buy when their stuff is on sale. I owe gear from all 3 companies though. Each one offers stand out products.
I’ve gone full circle on this and have ended up with the top of the line auto powder throwers. That being said I am likely going to sell them and buy a handful of Frankfort aresenal intellidroppers. Does tiny varience in powder matter for benchrest shooters? Yup for sure, but it doesn’t matter...
There’s nothing cheap about it that’s for sure. I’d probably recommend staying away from kits tho and just piecing together the best bang for your buck equipment.
I’ve upgraded over the years and spent tons on the best equipment available. If I were to do it again I’d buy a Redding t7 press...
I’ve upgraded over the years and spent tons on the best equipment available. If I were to do it again I’d buy a Redding t7 press, Frankfort arsenal auto powder dispenser, mitatoyo calipers, rcbs bench priming tool, Redding master hunter dies, and Sinclair comparator and inserts. Upgrading...
I would definitely recommend buying new brass for a new barrel. That being said more than likely the issue you had before was because the reload was too high pressure for the new chamber. Every chamber hits pressure a little differently. If you are dead set on reusing the brass then just pull...
As you get really close to the rifling it can raise pressure a bit. If you seat your bullets a lot deeper it will also raise pressure. More than likely your rifle has a tighter chamber causing pressure to come on faster. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Usually it means you can get book max...
Imr 7828 ssc is a sleeper powder but has yielded great results for me. Usually beats out the rest for velocity too. H1000 and Retumbo can also work well. I’d try two of these listed powders and if the gun still isn’t shooting then switch bullets, try a barnes or hammer bullet and try some sort...
The solution is running more neck tension. This light neck tension has been pushed for a while, but there is a lot of data coming out now suggesting that heavier neck tension gives you a more consistent bullet release. It also prevents this change of seating depth under recoil which is a win win.
You probably need to run your sizing die further down. If you use a headpspace comparator on your calipers you can track the movement. It is surprising how far you have to run down a sizing die sometimes.
All the options work, I personally use type s full length bushing dies. Just a full length die with interchangeable bushings. The easiest way tho is just a straight up full length die pushing the shoulder back 2-3 thousandths. While this can be harder on brass, most guys don’t shoot enough to...
I use the Redding type s full length bushing dies, they work great. If you want to simplify things just grab the regular Redding full length dies or the master hunter set. Comes with the competition seating die and full length die. There’s a lot of craze around minimal neck tension right now...
Yeah I wouldn’t bother doing that. It could be any number of things. If you aren’t using a comparator when you measure you will find that most bullets have a slight variation in length.
Also don’t overlook cheap calipers. Most of them on the market are junk and have a few thousandths variance...
I want to point out an issue I’ve had in the past. My first set of calipers were a 15$ pair of Frankfort arsenal digital calipers. I always seemed to find variance in my seating depths and when I’d adjust my competition dies they never seemed to move accurately. Loads always shot good so I just...
