The Tikka 308, 30-06, or 300 Win (or WSM) is not wrong for anything from antelope to grizzly.
I think the most versatility would be in the 300 WSM (with 1-10 twist) and you can use anything from 150 copper to 215 bergers.
I think my go-to factory loads would be Hornady 200 ELD-X. I’ve also...
What’s your budget…
Under $1K
Savage Lightweight Hunter Storm is very light and generally very precise (tiny groups). Savage is not the smooth bolt nor magazine, but they are reliables.
$1K - 1.5K
Tikka Wideland Veil is hard to beat for the price. It’s a little heavier (and pricier) than the...
Got the pants but need the suspenders.
Please PM me if you are sitting in some you’d be willing to part with.
Thanks.

I like the Kuiu Peloton 240 as a mid-layer. Kuiu is built for the tall and athletic it seems, so it should fit you perfectly.

I have a 7 PRC being built for elk this fall and I’m going with the NF ATACR 4-16x42. That’s because I already have the scope. If I were buying one, the ZCO 4-20 would be my first choice if I wasn’t on a budget. Then the ATACR for under $3K, and the NX8 or and NXS for under $2K.

True to size. I did not find a need size up.
They are warm and hold in heat well. I would not consider them for a very active hunt.
They hold up well to brush. I used them on a hunt in Arizona and the brush and stickers were not a problem.
I would not hesitate to use them here in Texas...
Ladies & Fellas,
I need to buy some decoys for Spring Turkey.

Depends on budget.
On the low budget side, I think the Leupold 2.5-8x36 is a great buy, especially the previous VX-3i in new-old stock or pre-owned.
Stepping up in dollars…
Eurooptic has good prices on the trijicon accupoint.
Swaro Z3 is very bright.
My favorite whitetail scope is my...
Get the best 3-12x56 you can afford.
Think Zeiss or Schmidt & Bender.
I have a Zeiss Diavari 3-12x56 built in the late 90s and it still stacks up against anything else I have.
I’ve shot a lot of deer under that scope.

On this budget… exactly this:
Tikka 300 Win + Mesa Altitude + Quality Optic!
Light enough to carry up the mountain, but heavy enough to be accurate after you get there. The big APA break takes all the sting out of the 200 grain ELD-X I push through it. Good up to and including Brown/Grizzly...
You can load down the 270 with light bullets and powder charge.
For a kid, I’d rebarrel to 25-06 and load 100-120 TTSX, Accubond, or Partitions.
