Just got back from a caribou hunt in the Yukon with a resident. I couldn't believe how cheap it was for the tag and license, then you only charge me a harvest fee if I shoot something.
I think my Canadian non-resident caribou cost me less than $200 in tags/license/fees. Crazy! The $2.50/L gas...
It's public, you can go and enjoy it as you please as long as it's legal.
Anyone who gets butthurt about this is a whiner.
Part of the deal when hunting public is that you never know who/what you're going to encounter.
I eat everything from Larabars to chocolate bars.
When I'm hiking all day everyday for days at a time, I'm not too worried about what I stuff my face with.
I always pack some some Halloween sized candy bags too for when I need a quick sugar boost!
That :poop: is 🔥!!!
I've discovered one positive thing about Muskeg on my last Yukon trip. You can easily rip a whole through the moss, drop your coiler in there and cover it back up! No shovels required but watch out for that backsplash if the whole is full of water!
Even if it's just to grind one deer a year for the next few years, it'll be worth it.
If you wait a few years to buy your own grinder, you might have already paid for it in butchering fees. Butchering your own meat is part of the fun, it cuts down costs tremendously and it's relatively cheap to...
I believe we're comparing apples to oranges here. Optics give you the ability to see further. A range finder gives you the ability to get accurate ranges.
Thermal imaging allows you to see in the dark or through visual obstructions. Big difference here.
Some devices enhance your abilities...
Not everything has to be an intellectual debate. Open mouth kissing your sister is probably legal in many places, still doesn't make it right.
Also, while we're on the subject of intellect, it's "touché" not "touche'".
I use caribou game bags. They work pretty well and are durable. I use the Wapiti meat on bone sized bags for elk, bear, caribou, deer and antelope. Bone in or not.
Better have slightly larger bags than smaller ones. You might think you will have time to debone something, but plans never...
You don't need one, but it's sure nice to have one.
Even if the lows are still relatively high, you'll be happy to be able to dry your boots/gear if it rains.
Just got back from a 10 day hunt, I think it only got down below freezing a couple times, but it rained and snowed the whole trip. Wet...
Just got back from a Yukon hunt with a buddy and only one out of two tags were filled, mine. Without hesitation he got half of my caribou. All expenses, equipment, etc, was shared.
We butchered the meat together and split everything in two equal shares. The only bonus I get is the antlers and...
