215 hybrid out of a win mag at 80ish yard left a golf ball hole and and trail of heart and lungs for about 50/60 yards.
It was a Nevada hunt expecting 300 yards min distance. Another hunter bumped a muley and it closed from 1k to 80 then turned to cross a ditch and I shot.
I'm using replaceable blades since I'm still new to skinning and quartering. It's a lot quicker for me to replace a blade then try and sharpen whenever I mess up a blade.
If you are confident in your ability to keep a blade sharp and able to sharpen a knife fairly easily a fixed blade works...
Beef ribs are always a hit, as are brisket and pulled pork. Beef ribs for a fancy feast is nice as they come out looking like a mass of wonderful meat and can either slice by bone or carve the meat off and slice along with veggies.
Only way I'll eat chicken is smoked since they get pulled at...
Being NV we are lucky to draw a tage every few years. When I say I hunt to fill the freezer I mean I'm not holding off for a giant, I'm looking for anything that doesn't look like a baby
Not ML but may xfer across as I'm new to the ML game as well. Watched an erik cortina video where speedy used a patch of a lockeeze (graphite suspended solution) down the barrel to simulate a fouling shot by putting a layer of graphite down. Wonder if that would help Iin this situation.
Christensen mesa. Sent back twice for new barrels, each time sent a digital target of submoa accuracy. Tried the exact ammo they used and couldn't get inside 3 inches.
Threw out everything but the action and the bolt and it's basically a custom rifle now...
My first tuna and my first teer were nothing to write home about but I was damn proud and bragged.
Many tuna since then and only 1 picture since. 178lb BFT definitely deserved a pic, beat the kite tuna and was absolutely an amazing fight.
My next deer will prob be a photo for friends but I'll...
I max at 80 and can't carry over more then 40.... I'm at 75 so I'll take a random day here soon then a week to help my brother on his hunt.
Miss working at lockmart where the max was 350.
From what I've seen it's usually the shooter. But for rifle I'll say setting up the optic so it's the proper distance for eye relief. I spend a long time ensuring my optic is mounted at the proper location for comfort. If I'm comfortable behind the gun it's repeatable. And for long range...
All conditions perfect 600 right now is my limit only because I have backed up to confirm dope and practice. 600 off bipod/tripod prone I can hit the head box on my ipsc steel target first round.
When training for a hunt I add in discomfort. Out on the pack and hike up and down a small hill 2/3...
I used to tie a treat to an RC car and have my dog chase it around the yard. Every couple minutes I'd let the pupper get the treat then I'd tie a new one on. If it's a hunting dog maybe even tying a scented wing or something, not sure if that will eff with his training though.
My brothers...

Btw the big boys are out there this year. This was early may on a 2.5 day out of fisherman's landing San Diego. Boat was the top gun. Tired of party boats though so next year I'll be on smaller boats.
Lookup the sauerfish out of San Diego for a 6 pack. Under 3 days and you'll be 50 miles out, longer trips you will go further south. We're planning a 2.5 day on them next year. You will stay on the boat.
