Cool video.
I’m too stupid to break down and verify his math, but what I’m understanding is a decent FOC/Spine arrow that’s tuned with perfect flight will penetrate “best”.
Regardless, 33” or 42” of penetration, that’s a good amount for a whitetail deer. I’d favor trajectory over losing...
OP- Become a Nurse and start out raking in ~$80k a year working 3 on 4 off, then vice versa.
You’ll have plenty of time for a side hustle, hunting etc.. working roughly 84 hours every 2 weeks. Specialize in a niche within nursing, and you will be well into that “6 figure” range you speak of.
Texas, Cali & Colorado seem to pay their Firemen very well. New York is mainly volunteer, minus the City.
The rest of the country, most of us work 2-3 jobs to make ends meet.
The 24 on 48 off schedule is also not as forgiving as the 48/96 schedule.
We don’t make overtime until we surpass 106...
Ton of guys just like you, driving South to extend their season and opportunities.
I’d find the Alabama DNR website and locate the WMA’s on their interactive map and see the regulations for the area(s) you plan to hunt.
It’s gotten very competitive hunting Public Land and this is a large...
All over the Deep South (Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana) the Rut can seriously vary depending on where you’re at.
Most of our Ruts begin in November and can run into January or February.
My lease in one County, the Rut is Nov 8-16th roughly. 16 Miles to the West...
I have the full stratus setup (bibs, jacket, vest) and it does very well for me in Georgia. Layer with merino and other jackets or hoodies when it gets 15-30F but is versatile for those 40-50 days as well.
Don’t own a CVA Scout in .300BLK but I do own the Scout in 6.5CM. It quickly became my favorite deer hunting rifle.
Extremely compact at 38” overall with a 16” barrel, phenomenal trigger, accurate and fun to shoot. I bought it as a backup/truck gun, it’s now my go-to deer rifle.
This. Short barrel AR in .223/5.56 even with a suppressor and adjustable stock is compact, low recoil for quick follow-up shots and has proven to be extremely lethal with the proper bullet & shot placement.
My main deer rifle is now a CVA Scout single shot 6.5CM because of its compactness. 38”...
Now let me ask, do you walk around with the shotgun out in high risk bear “areas” or dense foliage?
Or does it stay in the pack?
Do you use a sling if you carry it?
I will use Sawyer’s or really any Permethrin base.
I’ve used a Horse Spray from Tractor Supply that had a higher concentration of Pemethrin, with some Picardin mixed in. That stuff WORKS.
I will also take a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar every morning during Turkey & September/October deer...
I bought a 28” 12GA Affinity when Franchi first released them. The gun now has a camo stock & forearm but still functions flawlessly. From Dove, Ducks, Turkey to skeet shooting it’s been my favorite inertia gun I own.
The Franchi fit me a lot better than any Benelli or Beretta. That’s the most...
I’m very interested in Brad’s Caribou knife and am considering to put in an order.
I’ve attempted to search this forum, several others and the Facebook, but haven’t found a lot- BUT what limited stuff I was able to find was all positive.
My question is, for those who have bought knives from...
Thanks for the input guys.
I currently own several Glock 19’s, 45’s and a 34. I’m a huge proponent of weapon lights & red dots in a self defense capacity for a pistol, unless it’s for “deep conceal” with light clothing, summer months etc.
I’ll add a red dot and streamlight to my 45. I’ll toy...
We can carry pistols, but no long guns. Wild dogs have no fear of humans. They will walk right up to you and they seem to be more aggressive then any pet dogs I’ve encountered.
Especially during archery season or during the off-season, what is your go-to self defense option?
Typically where I’m at in Georgia, it’s wild dogs or the two-legged tweakers we have to be wary of. I’ve personally been followed by pit bulls to my stand, on different properties at that. Wild...
