The downside of hunting alone

The wilderness can be, and is, very unforgiving. That is very unfortunate. Spots and Sat. phones are great tools.

Low Carb, High Calorie???

What are you cooking with your game meat?

Cool post!!! I have found that most any wild game makes very good fajitas. The tougher the meat, the thinner you slice it. Venison also makes good chili, as we have seen in earlier post. For my family we like to mix 1 pound of ground venision with 2 lbs. of beef burger. The best recipe I have...

Tip of the day

When I am hunting in the bush, I like to precook food: bacon, burger, etc. Put it in ziplocs. It will last longer, and will take less time, and fuel to heat when you are ready to eat it.

Sleeping pads

Thermarest neo air is 2.5" thick, weighs less than a pound, and is very tough. I have over 200 nights on mine. I guess they have a newer, more durable one. It is the best I have used and haven't look at others since, so that is the only one I know of, it is about $170, but worth every cent!!

Sitka vs.First Lite

I have been using Firstlite since they first began, and the same with Sitka. Hands down, Firstlite has the best base layers. Don't forget the wool underwear! This stuff is awesome.
