I've shot the 156s some. I had to lean on them pretty hard with RL 16 to get 2650fps (22" barrel). I shot 1 bull elk and 1 whitetail doe with them.
Terminally they were great. It's also worth remembering that BC doesn't just help with elevation, it also cuts wind drift. They were also probably...
I think an honest conversation is in order.
"Look, I don't want to leave this job. But this hunt is important to me. If time off isn't available, it's probably going to be time for me to shop my skills around."
This only works if you are providing real value in your field, though.
A little update with an interesting lesson for me.
When I bought this rig, the dealer did not have the title. The previous owner had lost it, and applied for a new one, which was in process and due back within a week or two. When the sale hit MO's system, it rejected her title application...
I think that generally the only time I'd leave one overnight is a shot behind the diaphragm, just because it can take awhile for them to die. It's really a whole picture call, though.
I'd also like to know how many guys are pickier with shots in the last hour of light. I think I am a little...
Great deer!
I've followed up too fast and pushed them, also saw a deer that my brother killed have coyote damage because we waited 2-3 hours to track. Both ways can bite you, and it's always a tough call.
I think waiting overnight is pushed more than it should be in hunting media, but...
To each his own, but a Pint sized GC with git-lite is well worth the weight for me. Like has been mentioned it is not a one trick pony. I don't use a bipod, so I just figure it replaces that.
Absolutely, both those will be with me, as well as a recovery rope/strap. I will definitely troubleshoot the chaining process a few times before leaving.
If its like my other trips, likely we won't ever chain up, but it's nice to have options. Last time I flew out, and rented a little VW...
I ordered a set like @duchntr linked this afternoon. I looked the situation over fairly well, and I'm honestly skeptical that I can fit chains on the front, as the upper control arm is pretty close. Once they come in I will see how they clear, and go from there.
Thanks for all the discussion...
If the price point stays where they said it would on the RokStock podcast, it's going to be a great deal at regular price. I'm not going to lose sleep over whether or not I get a $50 discount, either.
I appreciate the advice!
Mine looks almost exactly like yours. Same color, wheels....
I'm thinking about ordering a pair like you linked, checking fit, and then making a call on whether I want another pair.
I'm headed to CO for 3rd season this year. I'm going to be taking my 04 Sport 4runner (full time 4x4). I'd like to have a set of chains with me just in case. Tires are 265/70/17 A/T.
In looking online I'm getting mixed thoughts. Some guys say only on the rear, and some are putting them on all...
