I was using a layer called SurfaceManagementAgency, however it is not working any longer. Any suggestions?

    Color Blindness

Advantage or disadvantage for spotting game? Being color blind, I find it situational, some types of terrain the animals just seem to pop out, Other terrains, I seem to have trouble compared to non-color blinded friends.

    Butte Montana Living

Montana does have some access issues in the valleys, and the animals (elk) seem to know where they're safe. Coming from Pennsylvania, I think you'll be very happy with the amount of public that's accessible. MT also has one of the best river/stream access laws in the west.

    Butte Montana Living

Don't live I Butte, but know a few of people that do. It's kinda of got a reputation for being somewhat of a "rough" town, probably due to the mining history. Several of the guys I work with complain about a theft problem due to meth users. Just like anywhere, I'm sure there's nicer and crappier...

Lowa Cevedale Pro GTX - Size 11

These boots are in very good condition with approximately 50 miles of use (see pics). The leather does have some normal dirt/scuff marks, sole and rand have no issues. They are an excellent boot, just a tad narrow for me. They are a very stiff mountain boot for a narrow or low volume foot. $200...

    Lowa Bighorn Sizing Question

About to order a pair of these, and the website says to order a 1/2 size up? I've been wearing the Lowa Tibets in the same size as my normal shoes. Also, I heard the Bighorns are wider than the Tibets - are they significantly wider? Reason I'm going with the Bighorns over the Tibets is the...

    Playing the draw game $$$$

I used to put in for most of the states; then I started really looking at the odds vs. the price. Came to the realization that it was ridiculous to be buying $150 licenses for odds less than 1% in some cases. In one state (NV) I'm so far in the game, I just can't quit - although the odds are...

    Snowshoeing

Have used them, though they seem to be more of a pain in the ass except in the right snow conditions (hard crust). I find it easier to use microspikes or crampons in most conditions.

    Drawing Odds Calculation Question

For all you math gurus, it's been a long time since I took statistics: Say you put in for 5 tags in a given year, with a 5% chance of drawing each individual tag - how would you calculate the odds of drawing any of those tags? My "easy" button says to sum them up (25%), though I don't think this...

    Tarptent Notch Review

I've been using this tent for 4 years and probably over 100 nights; this tent is probably the best piece of gear I've bought in the past 10 years, and I buy way too much crap. I like to use trekking poles when hiking in and out, but not while actually hunting. I've also used tree limbs for the...

    2016 Montana Unlimited Ram

Definitely an accomplishment. I was up there myself this year, but didn't see anything. I've hunted a lot of rough country in my time; the Beartooth's humbled me. The blowdown and doghair regrowth from the fires is treacherous and exhausting, and it's not like you can just switch drainages when...

    Wyoming unit 77

Past odds look like you would likely not draw that tag with 3 points in the preference draw, even in the special pool. The type 2 tag is only good within a 1/2 mile of an irrigated field. Don't remember there being many fields when I lived in that area.

    Life Decision, heading West

Lived out West my whole life, but have moved between several states for my job. In general, western towns will not have the same sense of community or neighbor to neighbor interaction when compared to the East or South. I prefer the privacy myself, just brought it up since you mentioned...
