How about this one, Kansas guy. Idaho no longer allows trapping for wolves until late December, because some environmental group convinced a liberal judge that this trapping presents a danger to the grizzly bears. According to the IDFG Director (the big guy), there has never been an instance...
The state management plan goals have been exceeded by 2-3 fold in the number of grizzlies necessary to remove them from the ESA. When the states tried to hold a controlled hunt a few years ago, it was stopped by the environmental groups (one tag for Idaho, and the hunt was stopped). The Idaho...
Tahe a look at Rtic coolers. I have one that i carry all through spring and fall seasons in my truck, so I always have a cold drink waiting after the hunt.
My room is built into my shop, its 8'x8' with a 10' ceiling. I have 2"x6" construction with blown in insulation and OSB on the walls. I went to a steel supply business and got 2 1 1/2" pipes the width of my walls and built wooden brackets to hold them up. I can easily hang 2 elk in there...
Nailed it. We live near Yellowstone Park so we take drives through there several times a summer. I've watched people driving their Subarus and dressed head to toe in Patagonia gear gushing over "alpha female wolf #123" being sighted, right after this same wolf just ripped a calf elk from its...
If you lived in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem you would realize that the number of grizzlies is way out of balance. I saw grizzly tracks in 2 different locations yesterday, and I would bet lunch that I could find a set of tracks within a mile of my cabin today. They are being managed by...
I use a two sided diamond impregnated stone from Smiths. I cary a mini version in my back for touch ups, and the bigger one at home for kitchen and hunting knives.
In my opinion, the rut is going to happen when it normally does, be it deer, elk, bears, moose, etc. Generally speaking, of course, but it seems to hold true.
lt would seem to me that this is basically providing a drop camp service, which in Idaho would require an Outfitter's services. I don't think anyone who wants to can provide a fully powered hunting camp wherever they want to in the national forest, then charge others to use it.
I've pulled out a few elk in snow with a kid's sled. It worked best if I took half the elk at a time. I always carry one in my truck during late season.
The latino farm workers come into Island Park after harvest season and cut wood for sale. I see those guys leaving the forest early in the morning with all the wood they can load in their trucks and trailers.
