Yes Alf hat. I love it like my thin merino beanies from FL and Sitka. Alf is warmer and doesn’t creep up if active or sleeping. Great for that chilly and sunny and I want a bill hat to keep sun off my eyes with Alf under it.
I see your links, if warmth is high priority...
Agreed. Those older wb were really great clear glass and super durable.
I only sold mine due to my prescription needing more eye relief.
Hang on to them and add whatever capability needed ie 10x42 etc. but the conquest line won’t match the optical performance of what you have. Imo.

I really like the kuhl beanie with ear flaps and chin strap. Very thin warm and comfortable. I also use it at night sleeping when hunting since it stays in place where my beanie falls off. If super cold I put merino beanie under it.
Hadn’t thought about this until your post - I have several first generation ice breaker , the merino that was still a bit itchy. 2 sets of tops bottoms, glove liners and beanie.
Must be at least 20 years old and zero signs of wear.
Your welcome. Both are working very well.
Ultimately I’ll be getting 2 rokstocks when I can swing it. I spent a lot of time learning me in terms of lop, scope relief, hand size bla bla. Mine are Jed clampit-ish but functionally excellent.
My first RSS once I learned here about trigger reach...
Kinda… didn’t want the weight or permanence of bondo. I started shaping some rigid foam but gave up on that pretty quick.
I used 5/8” dowel cut diagonally 1 3/4” long to taper it trying to get the grip more vertical.
Used scotch 2 sided outdoor tape to attach the flat side of dowel to grip...
I’d wager that if the NF engineers or head of market development actually attended Shoot to hunt event - they would see first hand. Especially if form put them behind swfa 6x….
They don’t hunt.
Even on a tight budget;
First year one for tikka 1, second next year for tikka 2. Regardless of price.
If is as summarized elpollo ie Ryan/Form specs and $1000 one a year for 2-3 years. So 4-5 total
Pretty interested in fixed 8 and not say a fixed 6 since that came up by folks I trust…
And...
Preferred barrel in 6cm w 7.5 twist, 20”
Lots of grinding for this contour
Jk armament 155 versa max silencer
Swfa 3-15
T084 rings
Stock shortened
Pachmyer thin pad shaped in line w bore
Tikka pistol grip
Leather built up to get 1.6” to trigger.
Rattle can exclusive in your face pattern
I know you bought one, I’m pleased with diy factory stock. Shortened, pad moved up, pistol grip plus more for proper finger reach and I can stuff and adjust cheek weld.
I like the customizable screens you can set up. I created one that shows density altitude, average wind speed and temperature. I leave on that screen keep it off until I need it and that’s all the important information quickly
Completely agree 10 shot group to zero minimum. Myself, if it’s a hard recoiling I’ll go up in zero rounds or do multiple 10 shot because I’m liable to be in error.
I’m also not in support of cool diwn between shots, I used to think that but comparing myself resulted in zero measurable...
All good!
All my life - to be better I’ve always tried to learn and be open to learning. Maybe I’m the exception.
However, as the president of a large gun club I see an even distribution of fuddism and I know more than everybody else in terms of age. Baffling to me considering most don’t...
Woa there! Just on 4 portion of your post.
Avid shooter and killer with 223/77 and 6/108.
My first digit starts with 6…. 😊
Key to learning is be open minded to learning instead of an ignorant know it all. Especially if what you diminish or dismiss is something you have zero first hand...
Kinda strong opinion and judgement without really knowing what you’re talking about…
Maybe folks that have shot it and others in the past will chime in for op.
Maybe I’m missing something, but with lower recoil and the ability to spot my own shot - I have my ruler/reticle for a correction in mrad myself.
Higher recoil rifle im not able unless with a partner and yea no buddies use mrad….
Maybe this is a good form Friday topic?
I think those of us who use and have killed with a 223/77 tmk or similar should type that ie 223/75 or 73 or 62 etc. Leaving it just to a 223 discussion I think continues to make this a head stamp discussion to those like mark c. Stuck on hunting myths and equating killing with caliber. Small...
