Almost 200 pages ago in this thread…. My longest has been 342 yards on a deer, out of a 223 the tmk will still perform past the ranges most guys should be shooting them at animals, myself included.
Yeah, they definitely wouldn’t be my first choice for an elk bullet. They work all right for hogs, and the price is hard to beat. Might try one on a deer this fall.
Have you seen anything with them at lower velocities yet?
Got another pig with the 75 gr AAC Sabre last night. First shot was at 100ish yards quartering away, knocked him down and then he got back up and started running at an angle toward me. Second shot hit guts, third was in the chest and stopped him.
First shot on the left, quartering away. Last...
personally I would like a little more clearance than that. How is the eye relief? Any chance you could slide the scope forward a bit? Even like a quarter inch would help.
There’s two SWFAs in the classifieds right now, a MIL and an MOA. The 3-9 credos come up fairly regularly. Either one should be relatively easy to resell on here if you dont like it.
If you don’t mind a used scope, buy both! Keep an eye on the classifieds here, buy one of each, and then keep the one you like and resell the other. They both hold their value pretty good, shouldn’t lose much money reselling here on RS.
What difference does the price make in what cartridge is suitable? If it cost $25,000 for a NR, or 50 bucks for a resident license and tag, the moose doesn’t care how much the hunter paid for the privilege of deflating its lungs.
