another vote for hanwags. I have similar fit issues and like a stiffer boot.
The Alaskans and the Trapper Tops both fit the same however, the sole on the trapper tops is very slick if you are traversing wet rock, timber etc.
I prefer to use my cell phone GPS, larger screen and is more user friendly.
I pair it with an inreach mini for my 2 way comms requirements.
I hunt solo most the time so my daily comms when I am on a mutlday or ore hunt are am and pm "everythings ok" to the better half.
Used this for a few...
I've experienced the same on occasion with boots I have worn for several years. Seems to occur on my first back to back long training hike of a season or every now and then on the second or third day of a hunt where I am putting a pile of mile on. Leukotape or thin poly liner socks takes care of...
fight is hard folks!
I live in Canada's California (British Columbia) and we lost our Griz Hunt a few years back because our provincial Govt used it as a trading chip to appease it's anti hunting supporters. Nil science involved, all political BS.
It's nearly impossible to reverse these types...
I use a slik sling as well. Love it. Never had an issue with it sliding /loosening. For those that do, after you have the length set to your liking, did you double over the strap and weave it back through the tri-glide (shows this in the video that about 2/3 the way down the page below)...
I sold a couple rifles over the past couple years and had surplus Leupold scopes. Both scopes (a Vx2 and Vx1) were in good repair. I asked for and got about 75% of the retail cost of a new scope. Both sold fast
Lol, I just grab a fistful of dirt and rub it on the high points of my face (forehead, nose, cheeks, chin). Washes off in a pinch with a damp cloth. Worked well for me to kill plenty of elk and deer in close with a bow.
I think camo can help disguise some movement in some situations but like said above movement and wind are far more important.
I shoot bears every year from the ground (most are under 20 yards) and the key is moving when their head is down feeding or the are facing away from you.
I find with...
I've used these (various sizes) for homemade boil in bag and dehydrated meals. Also use them to package my pepperoni and jerky. Worked great for me, never had a puncture. Only downside is they may be a bit heavier then other options

Typically, Aug-Sept for pinks in the river
From "Island Fisherman Magazine"
"On the mainland coast of British Columbia, pinks return every odd year, while on eastern Vancouver Island they spawn in the even years."
I use one of these. I bought a couple off the previous owner, the new owners are Canadian.
In any case, works well for us over the last 10 or so years of hunting in BC Griz country. Not a deterrent in any way, but sets a nice large perimeter around your camp that gives you some audible notice...
trailed more than a couple bears here on Vancouver Island. You are correct, the hair can absorb some blood, but from my experience, you will always find some blood when its well hit. Focus on double lung and they don't go far.
Flip a coin. either will work. You mentioned "brushy environment". Wouldn't even be a factor for me. You have no way of telling what either bullet will do if it clips a branch/bush.......
I hunt BC coastal salt water marshes. Wear a plain old under armour hoodie (same one in my avatar) until it starts getting cool and wet. then its a green HH Impertech jacket with whatever layering combos are required for the day. That's usually a combo of merino, and and wool stansfield, maybe...
ive done a few solo elk, last one was at 52. I'm 5'6 and 160 pounds so I need to be careful as its to easy to overdo it. Shot him at last light, hot early season. Took all night to get him dressed and packed out to vehicle access.
Regarding leapfrogging the load. I prefer this to when I know...
OP, unfortunately I think this is pretty much an inherent flaw with many MR frames.
I've dealt with this issue with my MR frame for a number of years now. Really too bad because I love the fit/funcrionality of my pack. (use MR GLMT frame with mule bag for day hunts, selway bag for longer...
