I lived in and hunted Wyoming for about 30 years. Spent lots of time in wilderness. Had a total of zero encounters with Game and Fish in a place where this would even come up. I suppose out of state plates at a trailhead that goes straight into wilderness, without access to non-wilderness...
Same, only ideally there is no conscious thought of putting cheek on the riser/stock. For hunting rifles if there had to be a compromise to that (ie that doesn’t work in all positions), for me I want to think about prone, because if I’m prone, I probably have time to think about it...
Exactly- and it’s important to do this from the start- tramping around all over trying to find the animal first is a great way to erase lots of useful information. Regardless of my confidence in the shot, whatever impact or animal reaction to the shot I saw, I’m approaching the spot they were at...
You can haul primers and powder through Canada. There are limits (think powder was 16 or 20 pounds or something. 5 or 8k primers maybe? Nobody asked, nobody cared and they saw them 2 out of my 3 trips (they were convinced I was hauling guns and searched, even though I showed all the paperwork...
This is the most accurate answer. Doesn’t really matter. I keep track of some for reasons I don’t understand, but others I’ve lost count and stopped caring. In some cases I’ll take a case or 3 with a new barrel and put a bunch of firings on them to see how a load is going to pan out in terms of...
The fact that actually doing the blood trail work post shot is worthy of comment is a sad state of affairs for hunting. Too much reliance on tech.

I’ll be there in February, though had planned on bringing a rifle, just because it’s hard to stay sharp with the bow in the winter in AK

For that distance, assuming quarters are already cooled, I’d put some blocks in the coolers a day before or so to pre-chill, then remove the ice and wipe dry, throw the meat in and head home.

Same. My time is valuable. I recently got rid of a couple vehicles and a bunch of other stuff (not on here). All sold fast, most within 24hrs. Could I have gotten more out of every item? Certainly. I also didn’t haggle over any of it, and generally ended up selling to the first response. I take...
Yeah, lots here too. If you look around
you can probably find the same one you parked without 47 locks and a guard dog.

First rule of kid birthday parties- small gathering with family? Fine, open the presents. Party with a bunch of kids? No way, open that crap later. No good can come from one kid getting a bunch of new stuff in front of a bunch of other kids. If the invitation says “no gifts needed”, don’t effing...
Pick something hard cast that feeds reliably and shoots well. The heaviest and fastest don’t actually matter. Reliable and accurate should be the goal. You either hit CNS or you don’t. Faster/heavier won’t magically make a bad shot good. Slower/lighter won’t make a good shot bad.

I do. I had one done by McGowan. 4D has a reamer, so pretty easy for a smith to get a hold of it. Strangely enough, Carbon 6 has it as an available chambering without extra charge. Die’s were straightforward to get, though expensive (Redding has them on their list of available, but still have to...
Without a doubt tikka/credo 2.5-5/20” 338-284. Or maybe same rifle in 7-08AI. Or maybe M7 257 Rob improved. Definitely one of those. Unless it’s a bow.
