Yep, he was helping me out a ton. Just didn't find one my gun liked. Being in California I have to use copper any how so it's not a big deal. This was at 232 yds so the TTSX definitely work.
They still have a lot of jump with the factory chamber. The original intent of the long action set up was to make case room for the 150 eldx. I just never found a load the gun liked.
It's noticable. A 150 recoils harder than a 120 in mine. Neither are what I'd consider unreasonable but you can tell.
I have two Tikkas:
45 of R15, BR2, 120 TTSX, standard oal is around 3150.
48.5 of CFE223, CCI250, 2.9 oal using a long action bolt stop and mag, 3246.
Both are basically...
If you're already thinking that you'll need "more" gun because you may "need" to take a questionable shot, you should probably be rethinking whether or not to spend 100k on a hunt. Monetary output should not factor into ethics.
Same for me, around 11. I stop drinking around midnight, off at 0400, in bed at 0500, gotta pee at 11'ish. Totally kills my sleep as I get up at 1230 or 1 and usually can't get back to sleep.
Been doing it for 20+ years. It's brutal, never found a way to avoid the fatigue and horrible sleep. We just weren't designed for being up all night, especially as we age. We're so short staffed I do 60 hrs one week, 48 the next. No breaks/lunch and constantly on the move. Thankfully August will...
I meal prep for my work week. It's the only way to eat healthy at night. One meal, some sort of snack, protein bar. I bought one of those heating lunch packs for dinners. Works awesome. 20+ years of night shift will be over for me in August. I cannot freakin wait!
In my Tikkas, R15 and CFE223 have given the best results with the 120TTSX. I use a mag primer with the CFE, BR2 with the R15.
That said, has your rifle ever produced what you would consider a good/reasonable sized group? Some barrels are just duds.
