I have 4 kids, 2 boys/2girls ..we coonhunt with dogs, hunt whitetail, turkey, and recently got into waterfowl. We run a small trap line when time allows. We fish and ice fish…. I have observed this much so far…
It’s all about the fun, snacks, and the adventure…. It has nothing to do with...
Well.. you guys were right… we scouted for 5 days and found a spot the wood ducks were coming to at first light.. used 4 decoys and no calls.. 2 came in, then 4, then 20 ish
this is pretty darn fun!
From upstate NY…. Did the NF moose trip last fall. Went late October due to fall crop harvest at home. Pm me with any questions… I had a great fly in hunt with a nice 40” bull
We own a farm.. so we will be hunting cornfields, ponds, crick/rivers…
Thanks for the advice so far… we have good shotguns and waders from fly fishing.
I will look into all the decoys you guys mentioned etc…. Seems like you can buy a lot of them used in the off season
My son and I started goose and duck hunting recently. We are just using a few decoys and figuring things out as we go.
What gear is a must have ?
What do you guys use to hold extra shells in the field?
Thanks
Steve
I drove from upstate NY last October 24….The locals and guides wore rubberized hely Hansen/ carhartt type rain bibs. Those will work fine for you. I highly recommend a tight fitting knee high rubber boot. I wore regular green lacrosse burly and worked very well for me. It is very tough...
I live in upstate NY.. tug hill area.
I’ve been internet researching wall tents and browsing this forum for brands and durability answers.
Not many people use them in my area
(mostly day hunters or permanent camps)
We get serious snow and 40-60 mile winds occasionally.
Im going to set camp...
