Are you sure it is really a half pound gain? The canopy weight of the Cimmaron is +10 oz alone according to SO's website, then you have the dedicated pole. I don't know if linked trekking poles will work for a Cimmaron, but they do work for a Silvertip and I'm already carrying those with me so...
The LBO makes the most sense to me too. Base only for scouting in good weather, base + vestibule for a bomber 1 or 2 person shelter, add a connecting tarp and maybe a nest when bringing the whole family. I kind of wish I'd bought an LBO instead of my Silvertip.
RL26? I don't have dies or really anything to reload 6.5CM yet, but thining about picking up the 8lb jug of RL26 at the local sportsmans just to have it.
I think they will make it right. I honestly don't know what the hell happened to break the scope and I don't really care all that much, I just want a working one back so I can get shooting, see if the gun likes 147gr ELDM, and build a drop chart.
Most of what I see has been records of donations to groups that are no friend to hunters. With many large companies matching donations to 501c3 organizations I don't get too worked up about someone cherry picking a small donation to the Sierra Club or some wolf reintroduction group.
Not near the same level of most of these, but I carry a Wilson Combat Beretta 92G compact. I might add a Langdon trigger kit to it and some slim grips down the road, but am happy with it for my purposes.
I received the scope today, mounted it, and am sending the thing back to Bushnell to be repaired. The elevation turret if incredibly stiff and I can hear something shaking around in the scope. I can't blame Bushnell for this since it was bought from an Amazon seller listed as a NIB return. It...
Thanks everyone for the input. I ended up finding a place that had a NIB return 3-12 LRHS in stock for $979 and jumped on it while cancelling my backorder. Hopefully I can still get the rebate.
I'll see for myself if light rifle + bomber scope works for me. Seems like it will be a good mix of...
Thanks to both of you for your reply. I am definitely going to get a scope that has a reputation for precise and repeatable performance from the turrets.
Down the road I might get a NF NX8, I think that would be a good light option, but I'm not sure how it would perform in lower light. I think...
I recently purchased a Barrett Fieldcraft in 6.5 CM with a 21" barrel. I plan to use the rifle for hunting mule deer, pronghorn, black bear, and the occasional cow elk as well as practicing shooting in the field to gain/maintain proficiency for hunting. Most hunting will be in my new home of CO...
I was hoping the new lightweight aerowool would be 100% aerowool, but it looks like they have the same synthetic underarms panel that stink up on my current aerowool long sleeve.
I am interested in some of their mid layers so i can get ride of my kuiu hoody. I wonder how the warmth compares on...
I have the same pad. Pretty comfortable, relatively quiet, and very warm for the weight and price. I might upgrade at some point, but it's pretty far down the list.
@Kevin_t and jmden, thanks for the replies, this will be great for the upcoming season! I'll gain a bit of weight over my jetboil, but a lot of comfort as well.
The picture should show unless you're on a computer that blocks social media sites.
It looks like it's the same as their other box stoves, just smaller dimensions.
Has anyone else noticed the couple of pictures of what appear to be a small box stove on SO's owner's instagram? Anyone heard anything about it? I am interested in a smaller box stove for my silvertip. I'd love something light for the small shelter but I also want to boil water on it. Seems like...
