Seek Outside small stove?

Has anyone else noticed the couple of pictures of what appear to be a small box stove on SO's owner's instagram? Anyone heard anything about it? I am interested in a smaller box stove for my silvertip. I'd love something light for the small shelter but I also want to boil water on it. Seems like the TiGoat wifi is the only option in that space right now.

The picture should show unless you're on a computer that blocks social media sites.

It looks like it's the same as their other box stoves, just smaller dimensions.

I've got one. I like the SO titanium box stove with flat top. I think the stove design is well built for good air flow combined with the damper mechanism they have plus it has a flat top that will hold pots for cooking as I use stove for simultaneous cooking, heating. When I pack a wood stove, I do not pack another stove for cooking on. Having owned three different sizes of Kifaru stoves over the years (BTW, am selling a Kifaru small box stove with 7' pipe and snow platform ($200) and medium box stove with 8.5' pipe and snow platform ($250)), I like the weight savings of the titanium also since Kifaru doens't make the Parastove or their small stove anymore, that forced me to move to SO stoves for my customers.

I talked to SO as to why they don't offer a smaller stove and didn't get too far, so did some asking around and talked to the guy who makes their stoves and asked him to make a scaled back version with a box of 6x6x9" -- he did and I bought one from him and it sounds like when he took it to SO there was some significant interest. Those little stoves like that are awesome for a small shelter/one to two people and you can get one pot like an MSR Titan Teakettle and one cup on top of the new small stove.

All up with a 5' stovepipe sized for one of my small TipiTents, the small stove comes in right at two pounds. SO and the guy who makes the stoves need to come up with a way to make their damper assembly so it packs flat (working on that now) and reduce the weight of their stove rings that hold the stove pipe--those can add an ounce or two to the stove package and they don't work as well as Kifaru's version of same, which are nearly weightless. Anyway, haven't had a chance to fire up the small stove, but it looks to be a great little package. For smaller shelters for guys that want to cook on their stove solo or perhaps with a buddy, it'll be a top contender I think.

There are still a couple small refinements, mostly around cooking and packing but it works well for Cimarron size and smaller shelters. I prefer to mostly cook on stoves as well.

There is also a very large stove we have been testing as well for basecamps, extreme cold or very large tents. It is titanium and comes in a 4.5 lbs with 8 ft of pipe. It has reinforcements that allow it to cook with heavy loads if desired (like cast iron pot full of water).

This should be available in a few weeks as well.

I should say that 2 lb weight is with a 7x12" 1000d Cordura zipped bag I made for it that prob adds at 3oz or so. If u roll up the SO stovepipe and secure it like Kifaru does, it makes it much smaller and allows the whole stove system to fit in a small approximately 7x12" bag--if I can figure out a way to make the damper fold flat for packing. Like i said...still working on that.

Having come from a supertarp with small kifaru stove. Stove was fine I just found it simply required too much feeding. IMO simply better to have a larger stove and little more weight to achieve desired result of utilizing stove for drying or simple comfort. I now have 18 inch lite outdoors stove and is night and day difference on burn time with slight weight penalty.

I don't mind the small stoves. Leaves more space for living than a larger stove inside a tent. Unless you put in it a shelter way too big for it, they will heat just fine and cook just fine. With right sized cut/busted wood stockpiled, I haven't thought it too much of a chore to feed it frequently and these SO stoves let you almost close the stove off to air so they hold heat pretty good for awhile. I don't run them all night--just to cook, heat and dry clothes off, then it's off to bed.
