I have a progressive loader, and while I like it for some work I also hate all the moving parts.

Help me choose a 6lb mountain rifle!

You have made it clear you want a magnum. I have had both the 7RM and 7PRC, and if I were going to buy one again, it would be the 7RM. I would choose the Tikka, as it's the best one, IMO, but it's a pretty plane-jane rifle compared to the others. I would go with whichever rifle naturally fits...

    Muscular Endurance for Mountain Athletes

You guys are 100% correct; you must also do loaded downhill work. I will also angle up and down to where I'm overloading one leg and then rotate to the other to further push ME. I do this for time, distance, or elevation.

    Need help w pressure problem

I would stop testing stuff and go back to the H4350 41gr load with 108 ELDM's that shot good and worry about this after season.

140 ELDM vs 147 ELDM Terminal Performance

I was getting 2830’s with hand loaded 147ELDMs. Due to Covid killing the reloading supplies I stopped reloading for it but I feel pretty confident I could get more out of it but I’m more than happy with the 6CM.

    Boot recommendation for elk

As I mentioned before I have had good luck with Crispi boots and I wear them every day at work. In the field I also wear the Vivobarefoot ESC and love them but you build up to them for foot strength and while I have been impressed with waterproofness I have seen some comments on using waterproof...

140 ELDM vs 147 ELDM Terminal Performance

I think 18” is a good size, with hand loads I can easily go down to 16”.

    Solo hunting

Transportation issues are very common and that can be getting stuck in the snow with their primary vehicle and not having the right equipment to self rescue to accidents with SxS, ATV’s, Motorcycles, horses etc. Not being prepared for sudden weather changes in the backcountry, this is more...

    Solo hunting

As a SAR responder, I am called out for hunters every year. Yes, only a very few have been deceased, but hunters are not immune from needing help.

140 ELDM vs 147 ELDM Terminal Performance

18" is what I run. Keep in mind the minimum of 1800fps of impact velocity as your range limit. I like to use more than that as a margin of error.

    Solo hunting

My wife has access to my Inreach account, so she can see my location and see if I have moved at any time. I told her, "If you haven't heard from me at our predetermined check-in time, check to see if I have been moving." If it looks like I haven't moved for a long period of time, send me a...

    PEAX Headlamp

Durability was the big issue for me. The bands lose their elasticity fast, at least on the two I have.

    Boot recommendation for elk

Crispsi Lapponia or Wyoming are two great choices.

140 ELDM vs 147 ELDM Terminal Performance

There might be a slight penetration difference between the two because of the added weight, but with variables like distance and angle of impact, etc., you would have to shoot a lot of animals to see any measurable difference.
