Haven’t gotten a shoulder mount in a long time but believe they’re somewhere in the $750-800 range. I prefer euro’s now as well and started doing my own awhile ago. Good point above about your family having to deal with them when your gone.
I’ve been shoving it in the front pouch of my sys hauler on my saddle for the past few seasons. It works, but doesn’t protect it from getting wet. I like how accessible it is. I’ve been saying I need to look into something different though.
Wore a pair of the lights to work yesterday and they were comfortable. They definelty have a looser fit compared to my darn toughs. I’ll try them on some training hikes this weekend to determine if I’ll pack them for my trip next week.
L4-S1 back in 2008. Coworker just had a fusion done about a year ago (forget at what level) but the surgery seems way less intrusive now. Listen to your doctors and don’t loose track of your end goal. Good luck with everything.
I bought the black ovis puffy jacket before my spring bear hunt this past spring. For the price, I really like it. Didn’t get into too cold temps with it but the couple times I put it on it kept me warm and it packed down pretty small. I’m sure there’s better puffy’s out there though.
I’d also recommend checking out a saddle. I’ve shot 2 whitetails out of my saddle with a rifle over that past couple years and both times I used the screw in hook that held my pack as my front rest.
