Ask tomorrow and I may lean a different direction but I’d be content with either tracking down a Melvin built NULA in 7mm-08 or a Strata built in 280 ackley. Top either one with a Swaro Z5 3-18 with the ballistic turret and I’ll happily hunt until I can’t. Short of a trip to chase grizzly I...
It won’t be a popular opinion on here but I’d be patient and check out that new Leupold Mark 4 in 2.5-10. You can go ffp or sfp, moa or mils. Seems like a perfect fit for those mostly close in shots
If you want to pull the trigger now I’ve had great luck with my Mavens but don’t own that...
I’ve used a little bit of everything, I wasn’t fond of the fit on Kuiu. I must fall right in between their sizes.
Jacket - hard to go wrong with a jetstream but I also really like my First Lite Catalyst, whitetail version for the removable hood
Pants - I haven’t found any that I like better...
My younger brother uses a set of diamond backs in 8x42. They are fine for spotting something, not what you’d want to sit behind for hours but you want be doing that in September anyway.
You can get into some used Maven c series for that $300 range, pretty good step forward if you really plan...
I like the Mavens but I’d go with the 9’s unless you are running them primarily on a tripod. I had a hard time hand holding the 11’s. The Zeiss is also a solid choice. I’m not against scope upgrades either but neither of those would be my first pick
You might consider a strata from rifles inc, not sure of your time line and Lex’s backlog right now. It would get you a similar weight and you aren’t limited on cartridge. He normally keeps a couple in stock, too
I have a Spartan and a Hatch, there are pros and cons to both. The hatch is way easier to adjust with the plunger legs and just slides on a pic rail so it’s easily removed. It’s super nice that you can track with the Spartan not having to adjust your entire position.
If I’m stashing them I don’t want to worry about making sure they stay charged, easier to keep batteries on hand.
The energizers are probably great for that
Awesome to hear! I have 2 scopes and a pair of binos, fortunately I’ve never had an issue to need customer service.
My first pair of binos I did the demo option, only time I was ever on the phone with them and it was a smooth process.
I’ll throw in another vote for the Maven B3’s, I’ve been using a pair of 8x30’s for two seasons but they’re also available in a 10.
Maven also released the B7’s this year, 8x25 or 10x25.
I live about an hour from Paris, post above got it right. I wouldn’t hesitate on the area. The winters will be a dream compared to Wyoming, we’ve had a handful of days below freezing and not a hint of snow so far. Summers are hell though, especially if you’ve never spent time here. Heat and...
