It may be a huge unit area- wise, but the whole unit won't hold elk. Add in to that that in August everyone is hunting within a mile of irrigated fields, that area shrinks fast. That's what concentrates pressure. Huge difference between how whitetails handle pressure, and how elk handle...
I'm using a Daiwa Tatula MQ on my ultralight setup. 2 piece custom rod, 6'6". Not cheap, but smooth smooth smooth.

I don't believe the Idaho 2 bear zones are one spring and one fall. It's two tags total, once you fill them both you're done for the year. License is good from 1/1-12/31. That covers you for the calendar year. They just include spring hunts in the proclamation because it lets people know what...
Different areas, could be different weather and or bear densities. That's why it's called hunting, and not killing. You have to play the hand you are dealt. Waiting on a friend to get back from his brown bear hunt in SE AK. He's got a few more hunt days before he gets back to civilization...
Not an objective comparison because you can ,or could, find some bomber tents in the bargain cave back in the day.

They weren't asking about Peax. Apparently there are many people still willing to give the free pass to Seek over their political views. Pick your poison, made in China, or from a domestic socialist. Isn't capitalism great?

The Xtherm uses a combination of material deniers. 70d on the bottom, unless they changed on the NXT. Xlite used a combo as well believe, 40D perhaps on the bottom?

Zen Bivy looks nice, but they've lost their mind on their new ultra light quilt costs. XL quilt in a 10 degree version is like $769. That's just for the quilt part. No sheet or pad. No thanks on that one.

Yep, when they cut 2k cow tags from Pioneer B it shifted a lot of pressure to other units for tags. Salmon B used to take almost a week to hit resident quota, last year it was less than an hour.

Idaho Outfitters and Guides Association page should have info you're looking for. If not, call them and they can give you a list of outfitters in that zone.

So are Wall Tent Shop tents. It's either China or Pakistan. Half of Springbars tents are made in China as well. Both of those get recommended on here on a daily basis. I'm sure you looked that up and posted it on an imported phone or computer.

And like everyone else in this thread I think you overlooked the fact that they were using the 12x12 Kodiak which is their canvas wall tent, and not the floored shelter like the 10x10 or 10x14. They make it in a 10x10 wall tent, or a 12x12. It may be a different canvas than a Davis, Montana...
Why? Most of the hunting brands use the same shell materials and down as the outdoor brands. Pretty easy to compare the specs and make a decision. Hunting brands are just notorious for charging an extra hundred bucks because theirs is camo and not a solid color.

Probably 10X as many days in the field, and in more austere environments. Pretty big difference between a weekend, casual hiker, and someone who travels all over the world and spends months at a time in the field in the gear. It's pretty easy to differentiate actually.
