I bought and returned the kelvin vest this November. Don’t believe it was any warmer than a cheap fleece vest but was more packable. For the money didn’t suit my needs.
Just ordered the Kiui down vest on sale but it looks like it might be a bit light on insulation compared to the FL brooks vest
8 person cabelas instinct outfitter. Has a stove jack. We use a 6 person 10x 10 and it is great for 2 costs and a stove. Holds heat better than single wall tents. I’m in MN as well and camp for deer hunting. Nu-way propane stove should work well, but sure a buddy would be ok.
Also is a square...
Similar size (although your courthouse has a taller peak) and the liner should help some.
Assuming you use the nesting pipe, you will probably need a section or 2 of straight 3 inch pipe to get the pipe to clear the tall stove jack. Put a damper as high as you can to capture radiant heat from...
They are made for ice fishing shanty’s so I’d think it would work fine for that. You have a ton of heat adjustment with the 2 burners so I wouldn’t worry about too warm.
I’ve posted on this before in this thread. We just used them in northern WI this weekend, lows around 10 and 4 F.
In a smaller double walled tent (Arctic Oven Igloo and Cabelas 10x10 Instinct), it does fine. The value for us is having comfortable sleeping temps all night for truck camping. For...
I would have bought the source jacket if it were in stock .
Looked hard at the sawtooth vest but think I am going to pick up a Sitka aero lite vest instead.
For whitetail I usually am hiking in a little under a mile in baselayers (and a vest of it is really cold). I strap my big blaze...
Thanks for pointing out the OnX sale.
I ended up going with their Klamath quarter zip for layering (don’t need a hood on everything), a pair of merino gloves and the uncompahgre jacket.
The latter I figured that latter might come in handy to stuff in my vest on cold run and gun turkey days...
Tons of ruffed grouse/ pheasant in MN Sep-Dec.
Rifle Whitetail in MN and WI (the whole of November).
Spring turkey in MN and WI. Have hunted 16 degrees to over 80.
Could use a new set of rain gear but would rather buy something that works well rather than a what I have a deal on.
Could use...
New Savage 212 Turkey. Bought in winter and had buyers remorse. Have not fired.
Was a display model at Cabela’s so has a little wear to the factory pic rail base.
Asking $400 firm.
Local (Minnesota) transaction only through a FFL.
From what I gathered from researching on this site, they struggle compared to wood stoves due to lack of BTUs. This makes a bigger difference in larger and/or single walled tents.
We use them in an Arctic Oven and a 10x10 Cabelas instinct, and they are great for the application because they...
I’m not sure they have been making the Arctica for a while, which may solve your dilemma. I see they are on the website however.
I run an AO igloo, so not an experienced opinion, but I think either should do fine when properly guyed out.
A square area is more efficient for sleeping...
Owned a T3 hunter in 30-06, so heavier than the super light. It kicked, but would have been manageable with a decent recoil pad.

If it were me, I’d lean towards a 270 in these rifles, or 25-06 if they had the audacity to chamber a quarter bore. These would be lighter kicking… you can...
Studies show a fairly dramatic dispersion of fragments well away from primary wound channels.
As such, I switched to copper before starting a family. Lead is bad for kids, well established science.
