I'll be happier if I get to use my pronghorn tag and when January rolls around but I was pretty disappointed in being a new resident that I still drew third choice for deer and no elk or barbary. I guess the "lemonade" is I might try for bear for the first time.

Hope I don't burst your bubble but nothing about unit 50 is "backcountry". Roads, legal and illegal, crisscross the unit and will be used regularly.
I don't mean to discourage you and elk are certainly there to be found. The hunt just might not live up to the style of hunt you're hoping.
