The Nikon Monarch HG's come in a 30mm model, with locking diopter, tripod adaptable, and I believe the same monster FOV specs(iirc 435ft for the 8x) as the 42's, and under 16oz. I've got the 8x42's, and they feel super sleek and lightweight, but shaving another half pound is pretty significant.
Another with a duplex lite frame with Exo bag, the 6400. Swap a couple buckles on the kifaru compression strap kit and it's like it's made for it. I've got a mystery ranch day pack lid on order. Looking at the tab loops on the frame and bag, I think it should be pretty easy to fit using the...
Swarovski z3 would come in under a grand. The 3-10x40 comes in at 12.7oz and would be more than enough for 300+ yards, with a few different reticle choices. I'm happy with mine.

Might be worth checking out the Scarp 1 or 2 from tarptent. Even the 1 person model has some extra living space. With the solid inner and crossing poles it should be pretty storm worthy. Fair warning, I don't own one, but do run a tarptent...
I'm looking into buying a sewing machine to mod my own gear. Hip vents in my first lite pants and zipoffs in my base layers are first on the list. Seems there's always some little thing I want to do differently than what's available.
So far no issues, though I don't have a ton of nights in it. I still try to be as careful as I can about checking the ground before setting up, but I haven't run a groundsheet underneath yet, and haven't felt the need to.
Have one and love it. I got it with the partial solid inner and it comes in at 28.3oz after seam sealing.
I'm 6'2 and use a long/wide xtherm max pad. Plenty of space lying down and sitting up, though my head does brush the net as I sit up.
Setup is super easy.
The partial solid is great in...
Thanks so much for the offer, just sent you a message!
Just to clarify here in case anyone else was wondering, these are the low talleys that won't work without modifying? So I assume the extra lows aren't even an option.
I've got a Savage model 11 lightweight hunter in 7mm-08 coming in, that I'll be mounting a Leupold VX3i 2-8x36mm on, but I'm not sure which rings to get.
Anyone know if I can get away with the Talley lightweights in extra-low with the 36mm scope? On second look, DNZ doesn't offer an extra-low...
How do they compare fit wise to the Quest? I tried on the Salomon's, and they're ridiculously comfy, but given the poor reputation for durability and waterproofness I just couldn't pull the trigger. If the fit of the Timberlines is similar it may be exactly the boot I'm after, my feet just don't...
I've got a 10x14 set up with a stove jack and a Nuway propane stove. It was perfect for 2 guys on bunk cots on a late November muley hunt. Three would be doable but tight.
My only beef was we set the stove up on the opposite side of the cots so getting out of bed in the morning to turn on the...
Yeah I think you just need to rotate the QR plate on your optic. I have mine so that it's horizontal to the optic, rather than running inline with the scope length wise, if that makes sense.
I can't speak to the 2016 frame, but I had(still have) a 2015 5500, and I purchased a 2018 K2 3500 this year. The K2 frame is a major improvement over the 2015. Everything I found fault with on the 2015 was upgraded on the new frame. Significantly thicker and more comfy shoulder straps, thicker...
I've been super happy with my Zip model. Had it a few years now. The cup has cracked but I never used it anyway. No piezo igniter or anything fancy, but I always have a lighter or firesteel handy anyways. The .8L cup is plenty for solo meals, and is nice and compact. I think it's lighter than...
I got an Underground Quilts Bandit XL 0*. I don't remember my exact specs, but I think I got 800fp down, 10d inner fabric and a 15d outer.I believe the dimensions are similar to a long/x-wide from EE. I haven't tested it in cold weather, but I'm really happy with the build quality. Price was...
