I would probably go on guided hunts instead of buying my own land in the west... 500 acres makes it hard unless its surrounded by desert and the only green alfalfa field in miles...
Tried the 215g's in my buddies Sako..2-3 inch groups.... it would not stabilize them... and we are at 5600 foot of elevation...Tried the 190's and his rifle really liked them..1/2 inch or better groups....
I am on my 3rd 338 Edge.. I have shot the 300 gr. in all of them...I am not real sure If you just consider terminal performance if the Berger gets anything more then the SMK's... The one Lapua I had shot the 285 Amax's the best... And this bullet seemed to open up every single time... But only...
only in grizzly country where its required... Other wise I would never hang food for black bears.... But also if it will let you sleep better on your sleeping bag and not worry go ahead and do it... Dave
I would work around your 6 and 7 load.... When I use the chrono I am also paying close attention to extreme spread between the loads... If I only get say a 7-15fps spread between 2-3different powder charges... This should theoretically show a node... A lot of .300 wins will show pressure at...
215 has a proven track record by many long range shooters and hunters... I shoot it in 300 win. 30-378 and 300 ultra mags...Is almost the only 30 cal bullet I have in my cabinet these days .
Just finished load workup on a 300 ridgeline... I don't know if this was just a bad rifle or ?.... But it took allot to finally make it a 1/2 inch rifle... I know many that have exact same rifle and have no trouble.. I had horizontal stringing that was hard to figure out at least for me... 2...
I think the SHV is around 28 oz.... Have you used the other Leupolds???? I am a Nightforce fan.. I have 4 5.5-22x56mm scopes .... I feel if the toughness , comparable glass, and zero stops are all about the same I would go with the nightforce but need some guidance as I have never had a SHV in...
If you can find one the old remington 600 mohawks in a 243 were an excellent kids first deer rifle.... 18 inch barrels light and short compact stocks....
I would rather walk through bear country unarmed, even close to yellowstone park then walk around a golf course with one cloud in the sky... JMO... Dave
Sounds like some Senators brother in law has stock in the bike companies... With the amount of roads the Forest Service . BLM, and State Trust land have closed in the last 20 years around here... you might have to walk from the interstate highways soon...I think this is a bad decision... walk in...
Put these on my last 2 light weight hunting builds... Seem like a very well optioned hunting scope for the $949... Zero Stop... windplex, covered windage turrets... and enough adjustment for the rifles I used them in in talley light weight 20moa rings... I have a 28 nosler light weight build...
Like stated above... The Ridgeline is a great value for the $.... I built what is just a Ridgeline but used a tricked out Remington 700 Action to build around... Even with sourcing the parts myself and find $100's in savings I was 6-$700 over what I could of bought a Ridgeline off any store...
