All of my 243 hunting has been with 95gr partitions thus far and I have no issue with performance.. Noslers have been scarce as hens teeth around here now though so looking to make a change.
Rifle is a savage 11 243 9.25" twist.
Thinking of either the 90gr Eldx or 95gr SST. Which one should I try out? The sst is like $65/100 and the eldx is $80/100 so purely for cost reasons thinking the SST but if they aren't up to the task I'll definitely want the best option..
This is for mule deer and whitetails out to about 400 yds..
What are your experiences with either bullet?
Thanks

I don't really think there is any real difference between those two. Both will do just fine for deer. I think the eldx has a harder tip that does not deform during flight time at high velocity but to the range you are shooting its not going to make any difference.

Either will kill deer. No significant difference in drop because velocity is what matters more than BC.

Check out Midway for blems if you want a possible deal.

So I'm in Northern Alberta Canada. Nosler BTs here are $40/50... quite costly and hard to find...
I have tried 105gr hornadys and they don't stabilize well in my rifle. I don't have local access to 103s but if I ever see them I'll give them a try.

the 95 sst work fine , just shot a mule deer buck with one yesterday. 240 yard shot, placed the bullet 1” behind the shoulder, ran 20 yards and piled up. Entire chest cavity was jelly. Have shot that bullet strictly out of that rifle since the sst first came out. The 90 eldx would probably be better at longer ranges, but if you’re not shooting long range it works just fine, we have killed deer and antelope out to 400 yards with the sst over the years.
