They are both factory rifles. So they are both a crap shoot for accuracy. Ruger has much better customer service than beretta and will most likely fix any issues. Beretta is not known to do anything. You can also roll the dice twice for every 1 tikka.
I'm not going in to combat with my rifle...
Normally i would say 15's all day....but will say a 15-45 spotter is more versatile. It also has higher X's which come in really handy a lot more than I expected. The one thing that no one seems to mention is if you can leave both eyes open when using a spotter it is no more "fatiguing" than...
The 95 grain LRX needs a 1/8" twist, the 95 TMK needs a 1/8" twist - both according to the manufacturers.
The 90 grain Accubond will work fine.
The 90 grain eld-x might be softer than you want.
I like the 95 grain ballistic tip the best. Have taken elk and deer with it. I think it fits your...
Easy for me...since CO requires a min of 6mm and 85 grains or more for elk.....6mm creed..barnes 95 gr LRX factory ammo
Or...since you can use 80 grains for deer...80 grain ttsx out of a 243 at 3300.....
I never discount any round. If it is off the mark it still counts. When I say I "feel" it will give me the performance I want...It's because for me I believe the performance I want might come from a bigger case and a bigger bullet....'merica
I really don't care what people use. I know a lot...
@Slowshot18 ...6.5 creed...Horn 147 eld-m, federal 140 fusion, winchester 140 match....
I'm above ground, upright, and mobile....I'm doing better than I should be.
@Harvey_NW...I always shoot 10 round groups for zero...I originally got them to shoot the first time by changing nothing but the...
I am on the side of shooting what you want...just to be clear.
However, in reading those threads as more and more examples come in you are seeing some "variable" performance. Animals running off, not dying very quickly, needing follow up shots etc.
I just think you use what you want with a...
I've been trying to be a convert. I've owned multiple tikkas now. The 4 I currently have have never been impressive. I had trouble with them when I first got them. Then I tinkered until I got them to shoot acceptable at least.
Now admittedly I am the unluckiest guy I know so take this however...
If that was for me....I stated in my post the 6 UM has no factory ammo.....
As an aside, I wish they would have used 6.5 prc brass.....seems the 6.5 saum stuff is destined for obsolescence....
I should state I know nothing about wildcatting though....personally even though it needs a long...
After reading a bit of this post I find it quite amusing. I don't necessarily agree with what WBY is doing, but at least they are trying to do something. Hopefully they will get the train moving more in a little better direction.
The WBY cartridges are high velocity this is true. If they...
We all hunt with an empty chamber and a trigger pulled closed bolt. Never been an issue to chamber a round when an opportunity arises. Makes sure your bolt won't open accidentally as well - even on the rifles that don't have a lock the bolt down safety.
I've used both systems. I prefer the gun...
I'm currently working through some issues as well.
DO NOT modify the rifle in any way first. That primer is suspect. I would see if the headspace is off. Then send it in for warranty. I don't think they will honor warranty for a "modified" rifle.
If headspace checks out, still contact...
Some land owners require it. The carcasses attract too many predators on working cattle / whitetail ranches. The one I hunt has a carcass pit...keeps them in one location...makes finding coyotes easier too!
I'm not one to get into these posts.....but here I go. For those that say you don't need a blood trail or tracking if your animal only goes 50 yards are only speaking from their area of operation and experience. 50 yards in some country with no blood, and no track to follow...means no recovery...
I picked these up from Doug at Cameraland new last year. I used them last year. Glass is perfect, never registered, some light handling marks, everything works as it should. Including a new unopened RRS poly bino cinch LR.
I am an old guy...so I don't have electronic fund payments like paypal...
Bucks have been harder to come by now that seasons have been open. Not seeing the bigger bucks much at all. Hopefully they are doing what big bucks do...hunkering down and being nocturnal....and not dead.
I did see these a couple nights ago. The 2x3 on the far left is still in velvet. I'm...
