Returned yesterday from a NM elk hunt. Before you ask yes, killed a dink 5x5 the last day but had 4 close encounters with 330 to 360 bulls that were within 50 yards but there was no shot.
This was fully guided hunt. There were multiple camps and maybe 15 hunters in the various camps. They...
1. I did use the Marble from Krylon. First tip, is to buy an extra can and practice with it. You can mess up a good base coat on the stock in a heartbeat with one pass from the Marble. Stay a little further from the stock than you might think when you apply.
2. Use the white primer from...
I will give everyone a “what I did response”. I bought both and tried them out, but in fairness I bought the medium 1800 and needed a long so it did not fit like I wanted it to. If I had to pick between the two I would go with the 1800. While I had the packs the first couple days, I saw a...
Thought I would give some feedback. I have tried the following: Defeet 7 inch cushion, Farm to Feet Trail, Black Ovis Shred Light, Carhartt Force Grid Lightweight, Ascend Coolmax, Cabelas Instinct 2.0 and Darn Tough lightweight (wore existing style that I had a few pairs of). There were...
Yea I have been the caller and the shooter many many many times. It always helps if your shooter can cow call or bugle right after the shot. I have been blessed by taking and getting good shots. Only one went over 50 yards.
I remember all of those, overdraw, 2213s, Rocky Mtn 3 blade and when there were far fewer bowhunters. Thanks for the advice. I needed reminded to be a little higher in the dark hair as Tick noted.
I am bumping this back up because my opinion on frontal shots has changed and I am gathering information on where the sweet spot is. For 30 years I would never consider a frontal even though I knew it could be deadly and respected hunters had taken bulls with this shot. I am not a risk taker...
I often have problems with photo upload if taken from an I-phone. I email them to myself and downsize the file size, then save photo to my phone, I-pad or laptop and upload the photo. If I try to upload directly from phone as taken and stored originally, the file size is too large.
I have three Peloton 118 shirts - one is long sleeve and two are short sleeve. They are large. I have never worn them. They list for $217 as a group, plus tax and shipping All three to your door for $110 Venmo.
I generally do not disagree with Khunter. Lets take a step back and talk about three kinds of elk hunting experience because I am thinking about 1 or 2 and some are thinking about the third. You have elk hunts where the beginner hires a guide and goes on a hunt. This seems to occur more...
For sale darn dear new Pro-CF 635 carbon Tripod. It has never been out of the house. Well that is not true, it has never been off the porch. I used it to glass deer at the farm with my spotting scope. It doe not come with the head or spotting scope pictured. $150 plus $10 shipping.
I am not sure why people want to appear to be experts, but you seem to be right. As I started my post, there are those who know far more than I and those who know far less. Either way, I bring enough to the table to help beginners. People must fill up with too much testosterone and forget...
Well you sound like an expert so my post was not directed to you. If you will look closely I used words like “beginner” and “novice”, not expert, know it all or worlds greatest.
All good 98 percent of people do. All I am saying is you will shoot better with it off since so many seem to stretch yardage today. I use a PSE HIP QUIVER FROM PROBABLY 1991. It is literally a flat piece of metal with slots for your belt to slide through. It orignally had a bracket a PSE...
This is for beginner or novice archery elk hunters. There are many who have killed more bulls with a bow than I. But, I have killed far far more bulls than my share considering the statistics associated with bowhunting for elk over the last 33 years. I enjoy watching hunts on You Tube...
