Since the forest model wasn't available when I bought my Tikka, I added a neoprene cheek riser to the T3X. The kit comes with multiple pads in different thickness for a perfect fit. It feels solid when I throw it up now. Should be warmer on the face too.
The Warne Tikka mounts I used clamp directly to the barrel dovetail, 25 in lbs on all screws. No clamping issues on the scope tube ie binding, etc.
I know what you're talking about, as I experienced that on another gun with conventional ring mounts with binding when adjusting the magnification.
I put the Warne Tikka scope mounts on my T3X 6.5cm, with a Leupold VX3 4.5x14, they work well. This is the first season with the gun. Took a small 8pt on the first day here in PA.
I added the soft touch traditional grip, subtle but really feels better. Also installed the bolt ball end. Topped it with a Leupold VX3 4.5-14 on Warne Tikka mounts.
Fyi, Tikka accessories are on sale on the Beretta site now.
The T3 Forest is what I was looking to buy last year(2021) but had to settle for a T3X due to not being available. Nice accurate gun, just not as aesthetically appealing. I'll probably switch the stock out to a Forest if I come across one at a fair price. In 6.5cm, it seems to like Norma...
Currently have a Savage Axis .22-250 w/Vortex 4-12x scope on a dovetail mount. Looking to add a picatinny rail to be able to swap back and forth the current scope and a Leupold fixed 20x for woodchucks. Will zero stay pretty close if both scopes have dedicated ring sets?
I just placed an order on the Beretta site and used promo code #CSPRO156 for 20% off, including current sale items. Made some Tikka accessories more palatable.
Since there is only one groove in each base, I pulled the scope assy off and they are Weaver mounts(smaller width groove .144"). I wasn't sure since Weaver mounts will fit a Picatinny rail but not vice versa. Put it back together and sight it in later.
I have a Savage Axis II(.22-250) that was a factory package with a Weaver 3x9-40 scope. What style 2-piece rail did they come with, Picatinny or Weaver. I don't want to take the scope rings off to measure the groove width. I want get another mount for another scope to swap back/forth at some...
Not a long range shooter either, just interested in the gun's accuracy potential. Realizing the greatest potential of error lies behind the trigger.lol
Sounds like it's not critical. I'll just use common sense and clean after sighting in as usual, whenever ammo goes back to normal.
The heat cycling I was referring to was a comparison to engine break-in after rebuild. Guess no correlation.
Anything special procedure needed for a new Tikka TX3 as far as barrel break-in/season for better accuracy? I bring this up because my DPMS AR had a specific procedure, cleaning between x amount of rounds up to the first 100 rounds.
So they do still have that design. Forest is what I wanted to order in the first place at Cabela's to use gift cards that accumulated, but they had no timeline when they would see a wood stock in inventory(at least another year).
Can you post some pics of your Forest and a close up of the palm...
