Dall sheep hunters: Rifle Bi-pod.......or not?

Flyguy, this might be it. We purchased these at DSC in January but I have yet to hit the range to play with them. They looked decent enough to take a $35 gamble on them. Bipod Shooting Sticks – The One Set of Sticks That Does it All

    BC Stone Sheep Outfitters

It's a large investment for a Stone. I'd go to Sheep Show next year and visit with multiple outfitters. You'll get some nice leads on here and have a list of guys to meet but don't make a $45,000 decision off of an online forum. I too am looking at a Stone for my next sheep. Unfortunately...

Dall sheep hunters: Rifle Bi-pod.......or not?

Absolutely. Used my Harris Bi-Pods on my Dall and they go on every Western hunt. As someone said 300 yards with trekking poles--I disagree, as that's a chip shot on a lot of sheep hunts. Sometimes you may have to push the envelope at 500+ yards, which is very doable with today's scope...

    Bighorn Question?

snider, I'd look at archery hunts for sheep in CO. The new bows are very capable of long range shots and much easier to shoot than their predecessors. You are looking at 2% rifle odds in a good unit, even as a resident. Some good archery units are 20%+. Of course, this all depends if you are...

WTS Graphite Sig Kilo 2000 Rangefinder

I used this on 2 hunts. Original box, carrying case, etc. All the stuff that came with it. There are a couple of subtle paint chips--I will send pics via email or text. I got very high tech RF for Christmas for my long range shooting. I'd keep this as a back-up but my father has this exact...

    Field judging Colorado bears

It's Colorado and baiting isn't allowed. Once you toss out baiting, the success rate goes way, way down. You are not spot-and-stalking on Vancouver Island where you'll glass-up 10+ bears a day. A legal bear in Colorado is a trophy (in most units). I was one of 2 hunters to successfully...

How Old Where You When You Got Your Sheep?

I like the way my dad did his Slam/FNAWS---Dall in his 30s, Bighorn in his 40s, Stone in his 50s, and Desert in his 60s. As for me, Dall in Alaska for my 30th birthday. Rocky Bighorn in CO this year with the bow at age 34. Now I'm committed to the Slam/FNAWS. I'll go for the Stone next and...

Stadium steps are money, if you can find a good, long set of stairs. Load-up the weight and jam-out to Pandora or an iPod. The revolving StairMaster at the gym is a real butt kicker. Also recommended, if you don't have a good stadium or weather isn't cooperative.
