It’s not a free for all from an airplane anymore. It’s highly regulated and targeted these days
General hunting for wolves is similar to other...
I’ll be shooting the interlocks. It is nice to have options though, but I think we’re good. A new stock and bedding will be nice future upgrades. Thanks everyone
Thanks Vern. Makes a ton of sense considering it repeatedly shoots the interlocks well so far. I’ll take it out to the range next week again and shoot some more interlocks and also some other ammunition. Might be a good time to venture into some hand loading as I’ve been saving 30-06 brass for a...
That’s the heart of my question is whether any work to accurize the rifle will matter or if it just really likes interlocks and that’s how it is. Maybe a little work will make it more accurate across the board
I recently acquired a used model 70 classic stainless in 30-06. Six digit serial number. It is in a plastic cheap stock which I free floated.
I took it to the range yesterday and sighted it in first with Hornady interlock 180 grain. It shot sub MOA. Then i tried Barnes ttsx 168, absolutely...
Bears yes and end of May is a good time. There are caribou that way but only very few and I wouldn’t plan on seeing any.
I’m not the guy to ask about early season fishing; I usually go after my salmon in July
Yes it is a harvest ticket for unit 7
Drive the Seward highway and look for places to stop and glass. Plenty of hiking trails to explore as well. Check south facing slopes and look for grass
I’ve been tempted by the 6 power. But last year I put a second shot into a bear while it was on the run, 40 yards in front and crossing my path, with a scope set on 3x. I’m not sure I would want a 6
Just nice to have the ability to stretch out to 350-400 with confidence if hunting something else.
The simplicity. But I’m not married to the idea. Just looking around
I would be interested in a fixed 4 power scope with a reticle that would allow holdovers or turrets for dialing. I don’t think a decent one exists. Am I right or am I right? It would be for my 35 Whelen mountain rifle that I use primarily for bears. Any ideas?
