This is my exact plan right here. Recently got the tripod with the AT-10 fluid head. Hoping by beginning of season I'll have that Tricer head.
Hoping it will be much more stable with the spotter than the Aoka I bought last year. Was so irritated by that thing I went back to using my VA-5 head...
No you just need to buy a hunting license and locking tag. With the locking tag you will get a harvest ticket as well. That tag and ticket will be good for any unit in the state that only requires a harvest ticket, both 7 and 15 are HT units.
I know unit 15 bears must be brought in to be...
There’s tons of bears in 15 and 7, both of which are harvest ticket. Fishing in May there isn’t much to be done as it’s the in between time from winter trout/ice fishing and salmon runs.
As far as seeing caribou, you could get lucky and see some over in 15 as there’s a lot more there than over...
IMO getting a puppy and all that comes with raising a new pup, is much easier when you have an older dog currently. If you do it correctly the pup will look up to/emulate the older dog making training and everything else much easier with a young puppy.
Yes definitely apples to oranges. Hiking boots to mountain boots.
I have beartooths and granites. I wear my beartooths a majority of the time. My granites I have for sheep and goats strictly. My brother has the timberlines and they are definitely softer than the beartooths but still a stiffer...
I think it's because it has become a status symbol and not a passion for the experience for many of the folks you are referring to.
This is one of the reasons I think the OP's idea of pricing structure is a great idea.
Lifetime member here as well as everyone in my immediate and extended family. I think this will end up being a great thing. I don’t see a down side to this honestly.
Education would be number 1 for me no matter what or where you're hunting. The less you know about your quarry the less likely you are to even have an opportunity to be successful. When you look at the guys who are killers and are constantly successful, they're knowledge and understanding of...
I think this is a great idea. It's more in line with guided hunts for other species. In all actuality its no different than guys coming up to Alaska to hunt x, then being charged a trophy fee for killing y or z.
With some tweaking of your definition of "opportunity" I think this is an excellent...
We have an Osprey Poco Plus. My wife and I tried on multiple different brands and models and that was the one we liked most. We love it, as it allows us to comfortably carry our little boy and gear to do things we wouldn't otherwise deal with the hassle of bringing an infant/toddler.
Very well stated. Never understood why or how this is such a hard concept to grasp. Plenty of means or methods I don’t personally like or will ever partake in but I’ll still always support it.
People are too selfish and or want more daddy govt to tell others what they can and can’t do.
Grew up in Texas and we ate them regularly growing up and even now. I love wild pork. I now have my family ship me a couple pigs if I’m not going to be able to make a trip down there. Only thing I don’t like about them is their ability to dull an edge and usually being pretty lean, making...
I've had plenty of people tell me I'm lying when I tell them I don't pay $6k+ to moose hunt.
What they don't understand is if you spend the time to research your own place to hunt it can easily be done for less than $6k. Part of the reason these transporters drop camps cost so much now is...
Definitely doable but you have to do all the logistics and research yourself. By research I don't mean finding the transporter with the cheapest drop camp offering. I mean actually researching areas to hunt and finding a pilot who will drop you where you want to go. I've done 3 fly-out moose...
I agree except for the last paragraph haha never had a bad experience with any of the lobsters of the prairie I’ve killed or others I’ve had.
Yep. It’s the same as the person who kills a rutted up animal then allows the urine soaked hide or hocks to either A) stay on to long after death thus...
a pile of some nice bulls through the years, congrats!
What’s the time period they’re inedible? Late sep-early oct? I’d like to hunt them after the rut but don’t want to kill one and not be able to eat it.
