I think what the general public considers "trophy hunting" is what me and you would call effective management of an age class of animal. I don't think this is across the board, but i think most hunters would generally agree. I think the general public considers trophy hunting along the lines...
I agree. I always love it when people say "This is ammo for the anti-hunters" when there is any kind of disagreement between hunters. It's pathetic and akin to saying "You're arguement is invalid due to some extremist using it again the hunting community" The hunting community isn't a...
80 percent of the public supports hunting. 76 percent of non-hunters support hunting. Anti-Hunters are in the minority by a pretty dang big amount. I think people put way too much thought into anti-hunters having much of an impact on the hunting public. Hunting will die due to the hunting...
Sounds like you're going to be hunting food plots out of a stand or blind. Grab anything available and in stock at Academy Sports. You don't need anything light weight, so hell go grab a remington AWR in 30-06 or 270 and call it a day. It's going to do everything you need, and if you ever...
Everyone has had great advice. Work your core, then legs, then back. Don't forget to stretch a lot. You can be in great shape, but hammering your body for 3-10 days straight is going to take a good regime of recovery in order to last the whole hunt. Figure out what works best for you. The...
Im hunting eastern WA. I live in western, but really don't like hunting the western side. I'm 100 percent spot and stalk, so im usually up in the alpine or the lower eastern slope of the cascades or blue mountains with miles of open terrain.
Im guessing you're a part of thr long range crowd because you used "us". You obviously want to argue instead of explaining why I'm wrong. Either add some substance or move along.
350 is just my personal fair chase limit. I think 350 is where i feel the animal has just as much of an advantage as i do. They can smell me, see me, etc. Never had to shoot over 159 yards at mule deer or elk. My fair chase limit is where my ethical limit meets which is why i call it at 350.
I think you make a fair point. I wonder if there will ever be a time where states possibly change their "fair chase" rules and define a yardage that gives the animal a "fair" chance. That question is what I'm trying to get at with thia discussion.
Not set off really. More concerned about how many deer/elk i see being gut shot, and how that has the possibility of rubbing off onto people who either don't hunt, or people that want to get into hunting and are disgusted by those ethics. In my opinion getting in close is hunting. To each...
No one ever said i was right. Nothing i said was factual. If your feelings are hurt please move along or PM me. Otherwise please add to the discussion and argue your point instead of trying to fuel a non existent fire.
Yes lazy in a sense that they are not stalking closer. Maybe they're not lazy when it comes to how much time they put into shooting. Why not add to the discussion instead of arguing about the "feelings" of the thread? Trying to keep this from being locked because someones feelings are hurt...
Fair, but again it's all an opinion to create a discussion. It's not an attack on anyone but my insight into what i believe so that someone can rebuttle with what they believe. If you felt attacked, then by all means speak up.
I think you make a fair point. Maybe I'm just not seeing the full story when i see these videos. I think patterning an animal that well could be seen as ethical. Me personally, i would get in super close if i have an animal patterned that well. I dont think most people shooting long range...
