Announced a couple days ago: 6-4 vote by the CPW.
Ranchers can now use night vision to remove wolves in the act of depredation on cattle. Also allowed (by permit) is night vision to kill wolves that are chronic killers of livestock. That means a rancher, for a specific wolf that has been...
Agree almost 100% (a bit of tongue in cheek here...). Midwest states aren't necessarily the type of boxes described, but they do have hunting for their residents in case no one is paying attention, And opportunities for multiple kills over bait in many of them each year to fill the freezer vs...
If you read the link that started this thread, it clearly said (middle of page 3, Starting with "In June") they were going to limit R and NR OTC tags or just NR OTC tags. Two options, one was gonna happen. Not if they were maybe going to do it, just what form it would take. NR OTC was going...
New allocation-previous allocation divided by the previous allocation x 100.
25 - 35 = -10. -10/35 x 100 = -28.57. That is a 28.57% decrease.
75 - 65 = 10. 10/75 x100 = 13.3. That is a 13.3% increase.
Internet age has a massive negative effect on Colorado hunting and in general with tourons showing up because an influencer puts up an video of themselves in the woods at some out of the way place, and every one shows up. Witness every National Park in Colorado having a reservation system now...
I used an older (like 25 years ago) Accurate Arms power, "Magnum Rifle Powder". Got a bit over 2800 fps which is about what I get from the 22" bbl with 150 gr bullets. The 160 Partition is a semi-spitzer (which you know) and the bearing surface is on par with 150 gr bullets. I didn't have any...
You have a pet project/load for a specific hunt you are wanting to develop? They shoot well out of my .270 Win. Never used them on game, many more bullets in the 140/150 class that will fly flatter and kill game just as well.
Whether one brass is "cream of the crop" and another is not, pressure is pressure. Just because one brand takes abuse of over pressure loads better means nothing, it's still over pressure.
The shooting distance wasn't the crux of the discussion. It's the fact that beginner ("newbie" was the term) shooters are only permitted to shoot one bullet and experienced shooters are allowed to "graduate" to using a different bullet.
Distance is immaterial, the practice itself sits funny...
Bloodshot minimal with the 110 TTSX (270 Win, 3400 fps) and 130 TTSX ('06, 3300 fps) on pronghorn to elk. Light for weight monos are the thinking man's bullet choice, IMO. No matter the shot (shoulder, behind the shoulder, etc) monos kill less meat and just as many critters. Shot angle...
I gotcha now, sounds like you are giving folks some great opportunities. Good on you.
I lived in Western NC for a year and had some great deer hunting. 35 Whelen AI with a 200 TTSX dropped them as fast there as muley's and elk in Colorado.
Like I said, I can appreciate what you're saying, but it is a solution in search of a problem. Pick the best bullet for the game at hand and have everybody shoot it.
With that said, the way you describe the firearms as all being the same, is this a private hunting property where you supply...
Screw Alliant, plenty of other good powders that kill game just as dead and shoot tight groups. Haven't cared for them myself as they are not temp stable with the double base recipes. Most times I see lamenting over their powders, it's because they were fast. Don't fret, the world won't end.
I can appreciate what you're saying. It's simply foreign to me one would choose a bullet for beginners that makes a blood trail but for experienced shooters choose one that doesn't. I'd be making it easy to trail, regardless of who was shooting the gun. Seems like a solution in search of a...
