Good to know. I have a 300 Win Mag Tikka that I am constantly fighting the urge to change to something more exotic. I was thinking of keeping my eyes open for a 243 barrel for something like this.
I checked mine that I ordered in Jan 2024 and I have clearance between the barrel nut and the Solo 300 upper, thankfully. I had to run dental floss through there to clear out the Aeroshell, but I have a gap. Thanks for the heads-up though.
That's amazing. We only have black bears, and even seeing them in the woods is an experience in itself. Taking down a regal beast like that with the UUL 223 must have been quite the dream.
I don't have strong emotional connections to specific cartridges (or automobiles), which is probably why I don't preach superiority for those topics on Internet forums.
If a 22 short was legal for big game and caused the same amount of tissue damage that a 77 TMK in 223 causes, people would use it. Obviously it doesn't, so it's nothing to mention.
Finished up. Magpul stock and optic mount with a Romeo V. Put a BX trigger in it that I already had and a rubber/steel buffer pin. Then added a Kidd recoil rod and spring, extractor, and firing pin. There are 4 mags and 80 rounds stashed in it in total. Put 80 rounds through it today and it...
Yeah I think you should either just use it as I'd or go buy a Kimber MA for the ultra light stuff. Changing parts isn't going to be cheap and you'll still not end up where you want.
It's crazy to me that builders don't quickly understand that they should be trying to, at a minimum, mimic the function checks that the buyer is going to do on the day the rifle is received. Maybe most custom rifle buyers just fondle them and put them in their safe and never have anything to...
So the takedown is here and the stock, more mags, and optic mount are ordered. Still might wait for the GLX microprism to be released to see if I wanna get that or another Romeo 5.
