Thanks for posting. I'm interested in the longevity of these.
The only Black Ovis branded clothing I have is their puffy pants. Good deal for the price, particularly for something I only wear occasionally and while stationary, so low risk on investment for me. I'd certainly be open to...
Depends on the area. I find myself doing mostly backpack hunts and basecamp hunts cause I'm hunting areas further from home and it doesn't make sense to drive for several hours each direction everyday when I can just stay out. I also enjoy backpack hunts and getting away from more people.
I think overall pressure plays into it too. How much have they been getting spooked/harassed? I've seen elk come back to the same spot for a couple days after catching wind, but then move areas when they were getting too much pressure.
I might do something similar, but skip the 85 part. I have a 554 that just doesn't do what I want it to and have been thinking about upgrading to a 65. I just don't use a spotter a whole lot, so it's hard to justify.
I briefly used a borrow pair on a boat and they worked very well. It obviously depends on water conditions but I was able to glass some animals with incredibly stability.
I'm starting to feel the same. I started with a compact Vortex Razor HD and wasn't super impressed, so I upgraded to a Kowa 554. While better, it is useless in the upper range of the magnification range and struggles in low light. I went in knowing a compact was a trade off, but I wasn't...
Did a little research and I understand the premise. Seems that keeping my socks and boots dry from sweat would be beneficial for keeping my feet dry. Just not sure if they would prove to be useful at temps around freezing as most use cases seem to focus on extreme cold.

So one of the latest Hunt Backcountry Podcasts has me thinking about vapor barrier socks. My feet get pretty cold quickly, and I haven't found a great solution for keeping them warm. My use case is hike in backcountry hunts ranging from September archery to November rifle in the west.
I've...
I have a pair of insulated Crispi Nevadas in 11.5. Less than 10 miles on them; I really want to like them but the toe box just doesn't fit me. Treated with Crispi waterproofing cream before first use and just treated them again after I wore them around camp during a spring bear hunt. $250 $200...
How is the fit on the Lathrop and Sons Mountain Hunter? I might pick up a used pair, and was wondering if anyone had some comparisons as far as the general fit. I have a slightly wide forefoot and typically wear normal width in Lowa and Crispi, and a wide in Scarpa and Zamberlan. Any tried on...

Anyone used the Gray Wolf Woolens boot blankets? Specifically interested in warmth, weight, and packability. I’m looking for an upgrade to my Arctic Shields. The Arctic Shields worked ok but I poked a hole in them and I could go for something warmer.
Also interested in any other boot blanket...
