When folks talk about Cartridge Over All Length (COAL) it has nothing to do with the trim length of the brass and only related to where the bullet is seated. You don't need to change the D unless you have some wildcat chamber.
Brain fart on my part now that you mention it. I never hunt in those units but that did cross my radar when I was looking at some options for my kids hunts, I just forgot about it again.
Was it in CO? If so are there any tags that allow harvest of a spike? I am not readily aware of any, someone likely shot a spike on accident and didn't own up to it versus not find in is my guess.
Here's a wrench in the discussion if you're focused on that h1000 (you could just sell/trade it too btw), would a 6-284win utilize it well in a short barrel? I'm not sure off hand.
Less barrel life for sure, but no fire forming, just necking down brass.
I plan to order a barrel over black friday and have considered the 243AI but keep circling around to the 6creed. Don't have to waste time or barrel life on fire forming loads and lots of good brass options in stock. Sure if you quickly develop a good fireforming load you can practice with it but...
My trailer is ~6500lb (but also aerodynamically a brick), with the 7.3L and 10speed and 3.73 rear end and the 34" tires (black package) I don't have issues towing over the passes here like the Eisenhower (IE the ike gauntlet if you watch those reviews). Most of the time it takes 4th gear and its...
Cabelas has 15% off mondays thru the end of the year for members, which may or maynot make primers/powders worth buying from them if you have a local store to avoid hazmat fees from others. If you're ordering bulk then other places are usually cheaper still.
I've contacted them about this but I want the damn app to stay in offline mode when I put it into offline mode until I take it out of offline mode. Everytime the app boots after its been off a while or connects to carplay it tries to go online again.
Its your money, I have a carbon 24" 300wsm which I went carbon at the time for a stiffer barrel at that length. Been there/done that and when going shorter barrel I have zero interest in spending the extra money for no gain (other than if that aesthetic is worth it to you) and sometimes its a...
IMHO, ditch the carbon barrel, figure out what steel contour fits reasonably and go with that. Also go shorter unless you have already hunted with a 22" barrel and suppressor and don't mind. The kids 243win is threaded at 22" and is far more annoying than a 18-19" barrel with a can on it.
Can someone with quickload run a load for me quick? The velocity numbers GRT puts out for staball 6.5 are way off any time I look at that powder in that tool, curious if QL delivers better data.
284WIN 19" barrel, with 139 barnes LRX at 3.08" COAL using staball 6.5
This barrel shot the 139lrx...
How much of that was outsider money funneled through them to give the appearance of it being a CO based donation versus out of state influence putting stuff on our ballot?
They didn’t wait for it to be filed, they were already moving years prior.
Agreed we need to explore closing the option for ballot box biology.
Outside money paid signature gathers in CO, there is nothing we could have done to stop that within current laws. Yes let’s explore future options.
Which if you want to specifically run ELDM you need to pay attention to twist rate vs expected velocity to keep the rpms below low 300k as is a known limitation to keep in mind with that bullet.
Yes but they spent millions to fail and by a decent margin, they’ll likely look to attack other states / topics with their resources for their next attempt vs immediately retrying.
Are folks spinning them to the same RPMs? Some of the faster cartridges 22cal and 6mm threads folks are backing off barrel twist rates compared to the slower cartridges in those calibers.
