Incinerator packs down way smaller which is big for my needs. But I do mix and match Incinerator Bibs with non-Incinerator coats, the Fanatic jacket being one of them. I have a couple of EVII pieces that I keep as backups, but all of the stuff I’ve been using is the older Elevated Forest line...
Sako uses a carbon sock layup method, which leaves no seams. It’s pretty cool. But yeah, I wouldn’t have an issue with the way UM stocks look unpainted. But for a hunting rifle, I prefer a dull earth tone paint to carbon anyway.
How do the lasts compare? With the Comfort Fit being German, and the others made in Italy and Slovakia. Are they to Meindl’s spec or do they reflect trends from those countries of manufacturer?
Do you like any? Sounds like maybe the Comfort Fit is an old favorite?
Climber, Lok-on, Saddle and ropes, whatever, all just tools. Pick the right one for the job. Has nothing to do with Woodsmanship.
If someone can hunt a spot more comfortably it’s an advantage. Climbers also set up faster, and can be quieter than sticks and a stand, situationally.
Poo poo them...
Idk. I’m way more out of the line of sight on the same tree in a climber at 25+ feet vs 8ft in a lock on. And there’s no sticks with human scent and possibly aiders moving in the wind at nose/eye level to the quary.
It’s situational. I have multiple systems, and would often choose a climber...
Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
Often enough I have scouted and know what tree I’m climbing before I head out. I’m not often stumbling upon hunt here now “hot sign” in the pitch dark, so it isn’t a huge factor. Albeit, sometimes that tree I’m heading to requires something other than a climber.
There’s trees you can’t climb with a climber, sure. That goes for about any method. It’s not recommended but I’ve been passing limbs for decades with a climber. It’s at your own risk and best have plans if it goes sideways.
I got into saddle hunting to reduce bulk and weight some time ago and I...
Lol, plenty of ugly and expensive guns get love on this site.
Heavy is the biggest issue imo. And you’re better served buying the regular RS14/Evo models.
Sling packs put all the weight over a single shoulder. Fine for short distances or light weight. I don’t think any is going to substantially more comfortable than another. Just get the one that has the features you like, if that’s the route you take.
Sailcloth packs offer great waterproofing. There’s a Rokslide review on the Seek Outside Silverton. Might be a contender. Stone Glacier Tokeen 2600 is another.
Freehand, this may hold true with a semi-auto. Otherwise working the action is taking you far enough off POA that it’s probably not going to have a significant impact on the follow up shot.
I don’t know that it’s really much of a thing at charging bear distance anyway, especially with some...
He would need a non-blem then to compare.
I don’t see that finish and function are mutually exclusive. If this is how all these stocks come, that would be worth flushing out.
I’m good with those who roll with what they get…clean up inletting, nock down resin drips, etc. as much as I am with...
